Why build your own economics flashcards

Pre-made decks rarely follow your exam board's wording, so the most useful A-Level economics flashcards for Anki are the ones built from your own notes. DeckOwl reads PDFs, slides, Word files, plain text and photos of pages, then turns them into cards you can review.

  • Cards for key terms such as elasticity, opportunity cost and externalities
  • Separate cards for diagrams like supply and demand or the multiple effect
  • Application cards that link theory to a current UK or global example
  • Review scheduled by spaced repetition so weak topics come back first
Example A-Level economics flashcards
What is price elasticity of demand? The responsiveness of quantity demanded to a change in price, calculated as the percentage change in quantity demanded divided by the percentage change in price.
What is a negative externality?A cost imposed on third parties who are not part of a transaction, so the market produces more than the socially optimal level.
What is the difference between a movement along a demand curve and a shift in it?A movement is caused by a change in the good's own price, while a shift is caused by a non-price factor such as income or tastes.
What is opportunity cost? The value of the next best alternative given up when a choice is made.
What does the multiplier effect show?An initial injection of spending leads to a larger final rise in national income, because each round of spending becomes someone else's income.

Built from your own material

Upload PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, plain notes or photos of pages. Cards follow your course, not a generic deck.

Spaced repetition included

Cards you find difficult come back sooner, so definitions and diagram labels stick before the exam.

Export to Anki on Plus

Plus exports to Anki, CSV, PDF and DOCX. The free plan lets you study in the browser.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add a PDF of your economics specification notes, a slide deck or a photo of a textbook page.

Generate your cards

DeckOwl reads the text and writes flashcards for key terms, diagrams and evaluation points.

Study and export

Review cards with spaced repetition in the browser, or export to Anki on Plus.

Economics rewards recall. Definitions, diagram labels and evaluation points all need to come back from memory under exam pressure, and spaced repetition schedules each card so the ones you miss return sooner.

Export is a Plus feature. Once your deck is ready, Plus lets you move it into Anki or CSV, and students with a school email get 40% off.

Frequently asked questions

How many flashcards should I make for an A-Level economics topic?

Most topics work well with 15 to 30 cards, each covering one idea. Start with key terms, then add cards for diagrams and for applying theory to real examples.

Should economics flashcards include diagrams?

Yes, a card can ask you to label or sketch a diagram, with the answer showing the labelled version. Keep diagram cards separate from definition cards so you can practise each on its own schedule.

Can I export my A-Level economics flashcards to Anki?

Yes, but exporting to Anki is a Plus feature at $39 a year or $7.99 a month. The free plan gives you 3 generations per month and browser study, and a school email gets 40% off Plus.

Do I need a credit card to try it?

No, you can start on the free plan without a credit card. It includes 3 generations per month and study in the browser.
