Why a deck you generate yourself helps more

Ready-made Quran Anki deck files cover general material, but your teacher's handouts, your mushaf pages and your own tajweed notes are what you are actually tested on. Generating cards from those sources keeps the review focused on what you need to learn.

  • Cards come from the exact pages or notes you upload, not a generic list
  • Photos of printed pages are read with text recognition
  • Spaced repetition schedules reviews for you
  • Plus exports to Anki, PDF, DOCX and CSV
Example Quran tajweed flashcards
Which letters are the qalqalah letters?Qaf, ta, ba, jim and dal (ق ط ب ج د). They give a slight bounce or echo when they carry a sukoon.
What is ghunnah in tajweed?A nasal sound held for about two counts, found on noon and meem with shaddah. Practice it by letting the sound resonate through the nose.
What is idgham in tajweed?Merging a silent noon or tanween into the letter that follows it, when that letter is from the idgham group (يرملون). The merged sound is nasalized in some cases and not in others.
What is the meaning of Al-Fatiha?The Opening, the first surah of the Quran. It has seven verses and is recited in every rak'ah of the daily prayer.
Which surah is the longest in the Quran?Al-Baqarah, with 286 verses. It is the second surah in the Quran order.

Built from your own material

Upload PDFs, DOCX or PPTX files, plain text notes, or photos of pages. Photos are read with text recognition.

Spaced repetition

Cards come back at growing intervals, so passages you are close to forgetting show up right before you lose them.

Export to Anki on Plus

The Plus plan exports your deck to Anki, along with PDF, DOCX and CSV files. The free plan studies in the browser.

How it works

Gather your material

Collect a tajweed PDF, class handouts, or photos of the pages you are memorizing.

Generate the cards

DeckOwl turns the text into flashcards with the key terms and rules on each card.

Study or export

Review in the browser, or export to Anki on the Plus plan and keep reviewing there.

Spaced repetition does the scheduling so you do not have to. Cards you know well come back less often, and the ones you miss come back sooner, which suits memorization done a little at a time.

Start with one surah or one tajweed chapter, check that the cards match your source, and then add more material as you go.

Frequently asked questions

How do I memorize Quran verses with flashcards?

Put a short verse fragment on the front and the next phrase or its translation on the back. Review in short daily sessions so spaced repetition can bring back the cards you are about to forget.

What should go on a Quran flashcard for tajweed rules?

Put the rule name or letter group on the front and its definition with one example on the back. Keep each card to one rule so reviews stay quick.

Can I export these flashcards to Anki?

Yes, exporting to Anki is part of the Plus plan, which also includes PDF, DOCX and CSV export. The free plan lets you study in the browser without exports.

Is there a free plan, and do I need a credit card?

The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study, and no credit card is needed to start. Students with a school email get 40% off paid plans.
