How to use chemistry flashcards for class 12

Class 12 chemistry covers a lot of ground in a short time: rate laws, electrochemistry, coordination compounds, biomolecules and many named reactions. Good chemistry flashcards for class 12 work best when each card tests one fact, such as a definition, an equation or a condition, and when you review them regularly instead of cramming the week before the exam.

  • Write equations in full, including units and conditions, so you can recall them under exam pressure.
  • Make separate cards for definitions, derivations and worked examples rather than combining them.
  • Review new cards the same day you make them, then let spaced repetition set the intervals.
  • Use a short quiz on a chapter after you finish the deck to find gaps you did not notice.
Example class 12 chemistry flashcards
What is the order of a reaction? The sum of the powers of the concentration terms in the experimentally determined rate law.
What does Raoult's law state for an ideal solution? The partial vapour pressure of each volatile component equals its mole fraction multiplied by the vapour pressure of the pure component.
What is the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation for a buffer?pH = pKa + log([A-]/[HA]), which relates the pH of a buffer to the ratio of conjugate base to weak acid.
What is the hybridisation of carbon in ethyne?sp, which gives a linear geometry with a bond angle of 180 degrees, because each carbon forms two sigma bonds and two pi bonds.
What is the Nernst equation at 298 K?E = E0 minus (0.0591/n) times log Q, which relates cell potential to standard potential and the reaction quotient.

Built from your own material

Upload PDFs, DOCX files, PPTX slides, plain text notes or images. Photos of pages are read with text recognition.

Spaced repetition

Cards you find hard come back sooner, and easy ones spread out, so you spend time on what you are likely to forget.

Quizzes and mind maps too

Turn the same chapter into multiple choice, true or false, or short answer quizzes with explanations, or a mind map of the topic.

How it works

Upload your chapter

Add a PDF of your chemistry textbook chapter, your class notes, or photos of the board work.

Generate your cards

DeckOwl creates question and answer flashcards from the material. Check them and remove any you do not need.

Review on a schedule

Study in the browser with spaced repetition. Paid plans also export to Anki or CSV for review elsewhere.

Start with the chapters your teacher or exam board emphasizes. Upload those notes or the textbook PDF, then check the generated cards against your source before you study them. Reviewing a short deck every day usually beats long sessions once a week, especially for equations you must reproduce from memory.

Frequently asked questions

How many flashcards should I make for class 12 chemistry?

There is no fixed number, but a chapter usually works well with 20 to 40 cards that each test one fact. Focus on equations, definitions and conditions that appear in past papers.

Which class 12 chemistry topics need the most flashcards?

Topics with many equations and named reactions, such as electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, coordination compounds and organic reactions, tend to benefit most. Biomolecules and p-block chemistry also suit short fact-based cards.

Can I export my chemistry flashcards to Anki?

Yes, export to Anki is available on the Plus plan, which is $39 per year or $7.99 per month. Plus also includes unlimited generations, PDF, DOCX and CSV export, and spaced repetition.

Is there a free plan to try it first?

Yes, the free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, and no credit card is needed to start. Exports require a paid plan.
