Getting Quizlet cards into Anki

Quizlet cards already exist as text, so the practical route is to get that text into DeckOwl and then export Quizlet flashcards to Anki from there.

  • Keep one fact on each card so reviews stay quick and focused.
  • Check every generated back against your source before you export.
  • Use the browser study mode on the Free plan to test the cards first.
  • Export to Anki, PDF, DOCX, or CSV once you are on the Plus plan.
Example Anki and spaced repetition flashcards
What does a spaced repetition schedule do?It spaces reviews at increasing intervals so you see each card just before you would forget it.
In Anki, where do you start an import? From the File menu, choose Import, then select the exported file and map the fields to the correct card sides.
What is a CSV file?A plain text file with comma-separated values, usually one record per line, that spreadsheets and flashcard apps can read.
What belongs on the front of a flashcard? The question, term, or prompt you want to recall, kept short enough to answer from memory.
Why grade your recall honestly during review?Spaced repetition uses your grades to decide when a card returns, so inflated grades push reviews too far apart.

Start from your own text

Paste terms as plain text, or upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, or a photo of your notes. The flashcards come from your material.

Spaced repetition built in

Review cards on a schedule that spaces out reviews as you recall items, so the material you struggle with comes back more often.

Export to Anki on Plus

The Plus plan includes Anki, PDF, DOCX, and CSV export, so your cards can move into the app you already use.
