How to build flashcards for Edexcel French

Most students revising for Edexcel French end up with a pile of French Edexcel flashcards that were typed out by hand from a textbook, and many never get reviewed after the first week. Vocabulary lists, verb tables and the rules for tenses and agreements all compete for time, so a deck that reflects your own course is more useful than a generic list.

  • Generate cards from the vocabulary lists and grammar notes you already have.
  • Keep verb tenses, irregular verbs and set phrases in separate themed decks.
  • Review cards in short daily sessions so the spacing does its job.
  • Export to Anki or CSV on the Plus plan if you want to study on another app.

What does the passé composé describe?A completed action or event in the past, such as j'ai mangé (I ate or I have eaten).
What mood follows il faut que?The subjunctive, as in il faut que tu viennes (you have to come).
What does bien que mean, and what mood does it take?Although or even though. It is followed by the subjunctive.
What is the French for environment?L'environnement, which is masculine, so it takes le or un.

How it works

Upload your revision material

Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or photo of a page from your Edexcel French course.

Review the generated cards

Check the vocabulary and grammar points the AI picked out and edit any card that needs changing.

Study with spaced repetition

Work through your deck a little at a time and let the schedule bring back the cards you find hard.

Good cards for French usually test one thing at a time. Put a verb or phrase on the front and its meaning, tense or pattern on the back, and add one example sentence so the rule is in context. Mixing vocabulary with grammar cards keeps you practising both skills at once, which matters for the reading and translation tasks in the exam.
