Why pattern cards work for Korean grammar

Korean sentence patterns like -고 싶다 (want to) and -(으)ㄹ 수 있다 (can) are easy to recognize in a lesson and hard to recall under pressure, so korean pattern flashcards work best when each card shows the pattern inside a full sentence. Seeing the ending in context helps you learn where it attaches to the verb stem.

  • Pattern on the front, meaning and a full example sentence on the back
  • Cards from your own lesson notes, so examples match your course
  • Spaced repetition to focus review on the patterns you miss
  • Export to Anki or CSV on Plus, and study free in the browser
Example Korean grammar pattern flashcards
-고 싶다Expresses wanting to do an action. Attach -고 싶다 to the verb stem: 먹고 싶다, want to eat.
-(으)ㄹ 수 있다Expresses ability or possibility. Use -ㄹ 수 있다 after a vowel and -을 수 있다 after a consonant: 할 수 있다, can do.
-아/어 주세요A polite request for someone to do something for you: 도와 주세요, please help me.
-지 않다Makes a verb or adjective negative: 가지 않다, does not go.
-(으)러 가다Expresses the purpose of going somewhere: 공부하러 가요, I am going to study.

Patterns from your own material

Upload PDFs, DOCX or PPTX files, plain notes, or photos of pages. Text recognition reads images, so handwritten or printed lessons work too.

Spaced repetition built in

Cards you find hard return more often, and familiar patterns step back. Short daily sessions keep older patterns from fading.

Study anywhere in the browser

Review on a laptop or phone with no install. Plus adds PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export for printing or moving cards to another app.

How it works

Upload your lesson

Add the chapter, slides, or photos of your grammar notes. Plain text and DOCX work as well.

Generate flashcards

The generator turns each pattern and its example sentence into a card, with the pattern on the front and its meaning on the back.

Review on a schedule

Study in short sessions. Spaced repetition shows missed patterns again sooner and easy ones less often.

Patterns also build on each other. Once -아/어 주세요 (please do something for me) is familiar, a card for -지 않다 (negation) makes it easier to combine forms in your own sentences. Reviewing them in small groups keeps the connections clear.

DeckOwl generates cards from the material you already have, so your examples match the way your course teaches them. Start with one chapter, review daily, and add the next lesson when the current patterns feel automatic.

Frequently asked questions

How many Korean patterns should I study at once?

Start with a small batch of new patterns each week and review them in short daily sessions. Spaced repetition brings back the ones you miss sooner, so you do not need to cram a whole chapter in one sitting.

How do I remember when to use each ending?

Learn each pattern with a full sentence and note the situation where you would say it, such as wanting something or asking for help. Review the example sentence, not just the ending, so the meaning stays attached to the form.

Can I export these flashcards to Anki?

Yes, export to Anki is included on the Plus plan, along with PDF, DOCX and CSV export. The free plan lets you study flashcards in the browser but does not include exports.

Is there a free way to try it?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study, and you do not need a credit card to start.
