What makes a good multiplication flashcard

A strong multiplication flashcard design puts one fact on each card, with the problem on the front and the product on the back. Mixed sets of 6 to 9 times tables tend to cause the most errors, so those are the facts worth isolating first.

  • Keep one fact per card so you can see exactly which product you missed.
  • Add a short strategy hint on harder facts, such as splitting 7 × 8 into 7 × 4 and 7 × 4.
  • Group cards by times table, then mix them once you can recall each table alone.
  • Review missed cards again the same day instead of waiting for the next session.
Example multiplication flashcards for the 6 to 9 times tables
7 × 8 = ?56. Also 8 × 7, since changing the order does not change the product.
6 × 9 = ?54. Digit sum check: 5 + 4 = 9, which is a multiple of 9.
12 × 12 = ?144. Learn it as 12 squared, a common square worth memorizing.
4 × 6 = ?24. Split it as 4 × 5 = 20, plus 4 more.
3 × 0 = ?0. Any number multiplied by zero is zero.

Built from your material

Upload a PDF, slides, notes, or a photo of a worksheet, and the cards follow the facts your class uses.

Spaced repetition

Cards you miss come back sooner, and the ones you know fade into longer review gaps.

Browser study on the free plan

Start with 3 generations a month and study right in the browser. No credit card needed to begin.

How it works

Upload your source

Add the worksheet, notes, or photo of the times tables you are working on.

Review the generated cards

Check that each card shows one fact, with the problem on the front and the product on the back.

Study on a schedule

Work through the deck daily and let spaced repetition bring back the facts you keep missing.

Printed sheets work for a quick drill, but they cannot tell you which facts you are missing. Generating cards from your own material keeps the set focused on what your class covers, and spaced review then handles the timing.

Frequently asked questions

How many multiplication flashcards should I make for a times table test?

Start with the facts you get wrong most often, usually the 6 to 9 tables, and add the rest in small sets of 10 to 15 cards. Spaced repetition handles the review timing once the set exists.

Should each card show the problem on the front and only the answer on the back?

Yes, keep one fact per card with the problem on the front and the product on the back. A short strategy hint on the back helps with harder facts like 7 × 8.

Can I export my multiplication flashcards to Anki or print them?

Exports to Anki, PDF, DOCX, and CSV are paid features on Plus, which costs $39/year or $7.99/month. The free plan lets you study the cards in your browser.

Do I need a printable template to make multiplication flashcards?

No. Upload your own worksheet, notes, or a photo of one, and the generator builds cards from that material instead of a generic printable.
