What makes a good nursing flashcard

Strong nursing flashcards put one fact on each card, such as a drug dose, a normal lab range or a priority action, so you can test recall in a few seconds.

  • Keep one drug, lab value or nursing action per card.
  • Write the front as a question, such as what, which or when.
  • Put the key number or step on the back, with a brief reason if needed.
  • Review new cards daily, then let spacing stretch the gaps between reviews.
Example nursing flashcards for labs and drugs
Before giving digoxin, which lab value should you check?Serum potassium, because hypokalemia increases the risk of digoxin toxicity.
What is the normal adult respiratory rate range?12 to 20 breaths per minute.
What is the antidote for heparin overdose?Protamine sulfate, which binds heparin and reverses its anticoagulant effect.
An alert client with a glucose of 60 mg/dL can swallow. What is the first step?Give 15 g of fast-acting carbohydrate, then recheck glucose in 15 minutes.
What does SBAR stand for?Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation.

Built from your material

Upload PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, plain text notes or images. Photos of pages are read with text recognition.

Spaced repetition

Cards you miss come back sooner, and cards you know fade into longer review gaps.

Study anywhere

The Free plan lets you study in the browser. Plus adds PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add a lecture slide deck, a chapter PDF or a photo of your handwritten notes.

Review the cards

Check the generated fronts and backs against your course material and edit anything that is off.

Study on a schedule

Work through the deck daily and let spaced repetition decide when each card returns.

Cards work best when the front asks a specific question and the back gives a short answer you could say aloud at the bedside. Pull them from your own lectures and readings so the terms match what your instructor tests.

Frequently asked questions

How many flashcards should I make for a nursing pharmacology exam?

Most students build a deck around the drug classes covered in each unit, which often means several dozen cards per week. Start with the drugs your instructor emphasized and add more as you find gaps.

What should go on the back of a nursing flashcard?

Keep the answer short and specific, such as a dose, a normal range or a sequence of steps. If the answer needs context, add one sentence explaining why it matters.

Can I export nursing flashcards to Anki?

Yes, export to Anki is available on the Plus plan at $99.90/year or $9.99/month. The Free plan lets you study in the browser without exports.

Can I make flashcards from photos of textbook pages?

Yes, images are read with text recognition, so photos of printed pages can be turned into flashcards. Check the text after upload if the photo is blurry or angled.
