Studying QCE physics with flashcards built from your own material

Ready-made QCE physics flashcards rarely line up with the exact topics your teacher covered, so the most useful set is one built from your own class material. DeckOwl reads PDFs, DOCX and PPTX files, plain notes and photos of pages, then writes question-and-answer cards you can review on a spaced repetition schedule.

  • Turn lecture slides and textbook pages into cards in minutes
  • Cover definitions, units, laws and the variables in key equations
  • Review weak cards more often with spaced repetition
  • Export to Anki or CSV on the Plus plan to study on other devices
Example QCE physics flashcards on electricity and waves
What is the SI unit of electric current? The ampere (A). It is a base SI unit, defined through the force between two current-carrying conductors, so it is used in every electrical calculation.
What does Ohm's law state? For an ohmic conductor at constant temperature, voltage equals current times resistance (V = IR). The relationship breaks down for components such as diodes, so check the component before applying it.
What is the difference between a scalar and a vector quantity?A scalar has magnitude only, such as speed or mass, while a vector has magnitude and direction, such as velocity or force. Speed is a scalar and velocity is a vector.
For a wave of fixed speed, how are frequency and wavelength related? They are inversely proportional, following v = fλ. Doubling the frequency halves the wavelength when the wave speed stays the same.
What is half-life?The time taken for half the nuclei in a radioactive sample to decay. It is constant for a given isotope, so it does not depend on how much of the sample remains.

Starts from your material

Upload PDFs, PowerPoint slides, Word files, typed notes or photos of worked examples. Text in images is read with text recognition.

Cards for definitions and equations

Each card asks one thing, such as a law, a unit, or the variables in a formula, so you can check recall in short sessions.

Spaced repetition built in

Cards you miss come back sooner and cards you know come back later, so review time goes to the physics you are still shaky on.

How it works

Upload your notes or slides

Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text file or photos of your pages for the unit you are studying.

Generate and check the cards

DeckOwl writes question-and-answer flashcards from the material. Read through them and remove any that do not match your course.

Review on a schedule

Study the deck in your browser with spaced repetition, and return to weak cards until they stick.

Physics cards work best when each one tests a single idea: the statement of a law, the unit of a quantity, the meaning of a symbol in an equation, or when a formula does not apply. Keep the wording short and check that the answer uses the same terms your course uses.

Once you have a deck, review it in short sessions across the week rather than cramming before an assessment. Add cards for any worked problem where you lost marks, because those gaps are usually the ones that matter most.

Frequently asked questions

How many flashcards should I make for QCE physics?

There is no fixed number. Aim for one card per definition, law, unit or equation you need to recall, and add more when a topic keeps showing up in practice questions.

What physics topics work best as flashcards?

Definitions, units, the statements of laws, and the meaning of each variable in a formula work well because each has a short, checkable answer. Problems that need several steps are better practised as quiz questions.

Can I export my physics flashcards to Anki?

Yes, but export is a paid feature. Plus ($39/year or $7.99/month) includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export along with unlimited generations.

Can I try DeckOwl before paying?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study, and no credit card is needed to start. Students with a school email get 40% off paid plans.
