Why build your own Urdu vocabulary set

Learning Urdu words sticks best when the list matches the lessons you are actually following, and urdu vocabulary flashcards made from your own course do that better than a generic deck. If you were hoping for a ready-made printable sheet, DeckOwl does not publish one, but you can generate a custom set from your own material in a few minutes.

  • Generate cards from your own textbook, slides or handwritten notes photographed as images
  • Review words in the browser on the free plan, with three generations per month
  • Let spaced repetition schedule reviews so you spend time on the words you miss
  • Upgrade to Plus for unlimited generations and exports to PDF, DOCX, Anki or CSV

Built from your material

Use the words from your own textbook chapter, class handout or teacher's list instead of a generic set that may not match what you are tested on.

Spaced repetition

Cards you miss return more often and easy ones fade into longer gaps, so you spend less time rereading words you already know.

Photos of pages work

Take a picture of a printed vocabulary page and text recognition reads it, so you do not have to retype the list.

How it works

Add your Urdu material

Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text notes or a photo of the page with the words on it.

Review the generated cards

Check the Urdu term and its meaning, then remove or edit any card that needs a fix before you start.

Study on a schedule

Work through the deck in the browser each day and let spaced repetition decide which words come back next.

Paste or upload the vocabulary from your class, and the generator pulls out the terms and their meanings into cards. Spaced repetition then handles the review schedule, so a word you keep missing shows up again the same day while the ones you know drop back. Exporting to PDF, DOCX, Anki or CSV is available on the Plus plan.

Frequently asked questions

How many Urdu vocabulary words should I learn each week?

Most learners do well with 10 to 20 new words a week, reviewed daily in short sessions. Start smaller if you are new to the Urdu script, and add more once the early words come back without effort.

Should I learn the Urdu script before memorizing vocabulary?

Learning to read the script first makes flashcards much faster to review, since you are not sorting out letters at the same time as meanings. Many learners practice the alphabet for a few weeks while adding a handful of common words each day.

Can I export my Urdu flashcards to Anki?

Yes, export to Anki is included in the Plus plan, which also covers PDF, DOCX and CSV export. The free plan lets you study the cards in the browser but does not include exports.

Do I need a credit card to try DeckOwl?

No. You can start on the free plan without a credit card, which includes three generations per month. Students with a school email get 40 percent off Plus.
