Why build vocab quizzes from your own word lists

A vocab test is only as useful as the word list behind it, and writing good questions by hand takes longer than the studying itself. An AI vocab quiz maker reads your list, definitions or chapter notes and writes questions that use the words you actually have to learn.

  • Upload vocab lists from PDFs, slides, DOCX files, plain text or photos of handwritten notes.
  • Get multiple-choice, true/false and short answer questions, each with an explanation.
  • Study in the browser on the free plan, which includes 3 generations per month.
  • Paid plans remove the generation limit and add exports, with QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro.
Example vocabulary quiz questions with answers
What does 'benevolent' mean?Kind and generous. The word comes from Latin bene (well) and volens (willing).
Which word means 'lasting only a short time'?Ephemeral. It comes from the Greek ephemeros, meaning lasting only a day.
True or false: 'ubiquitous' means found everywhere.True. Ubiquitous means present everywhere at once, from the Latin ubique, meaning everywhere.
What is the antonym of 'verbose'?Concise. Verbose means using more words than needed, so concise is its opposite.
What does the prefix 'mal-' mean in 'malnutrition'?Bad or poor. Mal- comes from the Latin malus, so malnutrition means poor nutrition.

Three question types

Multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions are generated from the words and definitions in your own material.

Explanations for every answer

Each question includes a short explanation, so a wrong answer teaches you the meaning instead of just marking it wrong.

Start free in the browser

The free plan gives you 3 generations per month with no credit card needed. You can study the quiz right away.

How it works

Add your vocab source

Paste a word list or upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or a photo of your notes.

Pick the question types

Choose multiple choice, true/false or short answer, or mix them for a fuller practice set.

Study or export

Work through the quiz in the browser. Paid plans add PDF and DOCX exports, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.

Quizzing yourself on definitions is useful, but mixing in context questions and false statements shows whether you understand a word or just recognize it. Each question comes with an explanation, so the quiz works as a study tool and not only a score.

Frequently asked questions

How many vocab words should I put in one quiz?

Ten to twenty words is a good range for a single session, since it is enough to practice without becoming tiring. Once you can answer most of them, add new words in the next quiz.

Is it better to quiz myself on definitions or on words in context?

Use both. Definition questions build recall, and sentence-based questions show whether you can use the word correctly in writing or speech.

Can I export a vocab quiz to Word or Moodle?

Exports are paid features. Plus includes PDF and DOCX exports, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning management systems.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study, with no credit card needed to start. Exports require a paid plan.
