Generate exam questions from your notes, planned around your TOS
Upload your slides, notes or PDFs and get multiple-choice, true/false and open questions with explanations. Keep your table of specifications next to the questions so you can check coverage topic by topic.
What a TOS asks an exam to measure
Most instructors who need an exam generator start with a table of specifications, the grid that sets how many items each content area gets and at which cognitive level. A TOS keeps a test fair by matching its weight to what was actually taught, so a topic covered in three weeks should not dominate the exam because it was easy to write questions about.
- Upload one document per topic so each TOS row has its own source material
- Sort generated questions by content area before choosing the final set
- Check that each cognitive level in the TOS has items written at that level
- Read the explanations to confirm each item tests the intended skill
Questions from your own material
Upload PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or photos of pages. Questions come from the content you provide, not from generic templates.
Three question types with explanations
Choose multiple-choice, true/false or open questions. Each one includes an explanation so you can see why an answer is right.
Export when you need it
Study in the browser on the free plan. Plus adds PDF and DOCX export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for your learning system.
How it works
Upload your sources
Add the lecture slides, readings or notes the exam covers, and include your TOS file if you have one.
Choose the question types
Pick multiple-choice, true/false or open questions, then generate a set that matches the number of items you need.
Check coverage and export
Compare the questions against your TOS topic by topic, then study in the browser or export on a paid plan.
When you generate questions from your own notes, the TOS tells you where to look. Upload the lecture material for each topic, generate a batch, and sort the results by content area so you can see whether each row of the TOS has enough items at the level you planned, such as recall, application or analysis.
Writing the final mix still takes judgment. Use the explanations to confirm that each item tests the skill named in the TOS rather than a detail that is easy to guess, and remove any question that duplicates another.

Frequently asked questions
What does a table of specifications include?
A TOS lists the content areas or topics down one side and the cognitive levels, such as remember, understand and apply, across the top. Each cell shows how many items test that topic at that level, and the totals match the length of the exam.
How do I check that an exam matches my TOS?
Count the generated questions for each topic and level, then compare those counts to the planned numbers in your TOS. Adjust by generating more questions from the weak topics or removing duplicates from the strong ones.
Can I export the exam questions?
Yes, on paid plans. PDF and DOCX export are part of Plus at $39/year or $7.99/month, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are part of Pro at $14.99/month.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, the free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, with no exports. No credit card is needed to start.
