Turn your own notes into quiz questions for a Gimkit game
A join PIN comes from the game host. DeckOwl builds practice questions from your own study files, with explanations for every answer.
What a Gimkit PIN is and what DeckOwl can do
The Gimkit PIN is a join code the game host generates when a live session starts, so no study tool can create one for you. What DeckOwl can do is turn your readings, slides and notes into quiz questions you can practice before the game begins.
- Upload PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text notes or photos of pages
- Get multiple-choice, true/false and short answer questions
- Read an explanation for every answer
- Study in the browser on the free plan, with 3 generations per month
Quiz questions from your files
Upload PDFs, slides, DOCX files, notes or photos of pages and get multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions.
Explanations for every answer
Each question includes an explanation of the correct answer, so a wrong guess becomes a lesson.
Export on paid plans
Plus exports to PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV. Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.
How it works
Upload your material
Add a PDF, slide deck, DOCX file, text notes or a photo of a page.
Choose question types
Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer, then generate your quiz.
Practice in the browser
Study on the free plan with 3 generations per month, then upgrade if you need more.
Every question is built only from the files you upload. A chemistry chapter, a nursing handout or a lecture deck becomes multiple-choice, true/false or short answer items, each with an explanation of why the correct answer is right.

Frequently asked questions
Where does a Gimkit PIN come from?
The PIN is generated by the host when a live game session starts, so it appears in the game itself rather than in a study app. Ask your teacher or the person hosting the session for the code.
What is the difference between GPIO and power pins on a microcontroller?
GPIO pins are set as inputs or outputs for signals and supply only a few milliamps, while power pins such as 5V and GND supply current to the board and its parts. Check the datasheet before connecting anything heavy to a GPIO pin.
Does DeckOwl host live games with join PINs?
No. DeckOwl creates quiz questions and flashcards from your own material for practice in the browser. Exports to PDF, DOCX and Anki require the Plus plan, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML require Pro.
How do I study pin labels for an exam?
Draw the chip from its datasheet, label each pin from memory, then check your answers and repeat the ones you miss. Spaced repetition on the Plus plan helps you revisit them over time.
