Get quiz questions to import into Google Forms from your notes
Upload a PDF, slides or typed notes and get questions with explanations. Then copy them into your Google Form and set up the quiz.
Moving generated questions into a Google Form
Rebuilding a quiz by hand from lecture slides takes longer than the lecture did. DeckOwl helps with importing quiz questions into Google Forms by writing the questions from your own material first, so you start from a draft instead of a blank form.
- Multiple-choice, true/false and open questions in one pass
- Explanations written for each answer
- Free plan includes 3 generations per month with no credit card
- Students get 40% off with a school email
Questions from your material
Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text file or a photo of a page. The text is read and turned into quiz questions.
Three question types
Multiple-choice, true/false and open questions, each with an explanation for the correct answer.
Ready to move over
Export to PDF or DOCX on Plus, then copy questions and answer choices into your Google Form.
How it works
Upload your notes
Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or photo of a page.
Review the questions
Check each question, answer and explanation before you use them.
Copy into Google Forms
Paste the questions into a Google Form, turn on quiz mode and set the answer key.
Google Forms has no native true/false question type, so use a two-option multiple-choice question for those. Open questions can be entered as short answer, but exact-match grading misses reworded answers, so review those by hand.
Exports are a paid feature. The free plan lets you study in the browser, Plus adds PDF and DOCX export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning systems that accept those files.

Frequently asked questions
Can DeckOwl send questions straight into Google Forms?
Not directly. Export your questions to DOCX or PDF on the Plus plan, then copy them into your Google Form.
How do I set up a true/false question in Google Forms?
Google Forms has no native true/false type, so create a multiple-choice question with two options, True and False. Then turn on quiz mode in Settings and mark the correct option in the answer key.
How many questions should a Google Forms quiz have for one unit?
Most unit quizzes work well with 10 to 20 questions, enough to cover the main ideas without tiring students. Mix recall questions with application questions so the results show real understanding.
Is QTI export available on the free plan?
No. The free plan includes browser study with 3 generations per month and no exports. QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are part of the Pro plan at $14.99 per month.
