Turn your notes into a quiz you can paste into Google Forms
Upload a PDF, slide deck or set of notes and get multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions with explanations. Then move them into a form and share the link yourself.
How a Google Forms quiz link gets made
Most people who want a Google Forms quiz link already have the material: a lecture deck, a chapter PDF or a page of notes. DeckOwl reads those files and writes the questions first, so the form is built from your own content rather than a generic template.
- Upload PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or photos of pages
- Get multiple-choice, true/false and short answer questions with explanations
- Study in the browser on the free plan, with 3 generations per month
- Export to PDF or DOCX on Plus and to QTI 2.1 or Moodle XML on Pro
Questions from your own material
Upload PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or photos of pages and get quiz questions based on what you actually studied.
Explanations for every answer
Each multiple-choice, true/false and short answer question comes with an explanation, so the quiz teaches as well as tests.
Study in the browser for free
The free plan gives you 3 generations per month and browser study. Paid plans add exports to PDF and DOCX for putting questions into other tools.
How it works
Upload your notes
Add a PDF, slides, a Word file or a photo of a page. Text recognition reads the content.
Review the questions
Check the multiple-choice, true/false and short answer items and their explanations before you use them.
Copy into Google Forms
Paste the questions into a Google Form, turn on quiz mode there, then use the Send button to copy the link.
DeckOwl does not publish a Google Forms link or export straight to Google Forms, so the form step is manual. Paid exports are PDF and DOCX on Plus, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro. Plus is $39/year or $7.99/month, and students get 40% off with a school email. No credit card is needed to start.

Frequently asked questions
Can DeckOwl send my quiz straight to Google Forms?
No, DeckOwl does not export directly to Google Forms. You copy the questions into a form yourself, then use Google Forms' Send option to get the link.
How many questions should a quiz have before I share it?
Eight to twelve questions usually cover one lecture or chapter well enough for a quick check. Fewer questions work better when students need to repeat the quiz often.
What makes a good multiple-choice distractor?
Wrong options should be plausible answers a student could confuse with the right one, such as a related term or a common misconception. Avoid options that are obviously wrong or that give away the answer by length.
Is DeckOwl free to use?
The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study but no exports. Plus and Pro add unlimited generations and export options, and there is no credit card needed to start.
