Turn your math notes into a math quiz you can take in the browser

A generic HTML page rarely matches what your class is covering. DeckOwl writes math questions from your own PDF, slides or notes, with multiple-choice, true/false or short answer formats and an explanation for each answer.

Why a custom math quiz beats a downloaded HTML file

A ready-made math quiz page is only useful if it covers the same topics as your homework and exam. DeckOwl reads your own material and writes the questions, so the quiz follows your chapter, your notation and your examples.

  • Works from your own lecture slides, notes and textbook PDFs
  • Multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer question formats
  • Explanations show the reasoning behind each correct answer

Example algebra and probability questions for a math quiz
Solve 2x + 5 = 17.x = 6. Subtract 5 from both sides to get 2x = 12, then divide both sides by 2.
True or false: the derivative of sin(x) is cos(x).True. The derivative of sine is cosine, a standard rule from basic calculus.
What is the slope of the line through (1, 3) and (4, 9)?2. Slope is rise over run: (9 - 3) / (4 - 1) = 6 / 3 = 2.
Factor x^2 - 5x + 6.(x - 2)(x - 3). The two numbers multiply to 6 and add to -5, so they are -2 and -3.
What is the probability of rolling a sum of 7 with two fair six-sided dice?1/6. Six of the 36 equally likely outcomes sum to 7.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download the math quiz as an HTML file?

DeckOwl does not export HTML files. Plus includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.

How many questions should a math quiz include?

Ten to fifteen questions per topic is a practical range for one study session. Start with fewer if the material is dense, and repeat the questions you missed the next day.

Which math topics suit quiz questions best?

Topics with clear right answers, such as solving equations, factoring and probability, work well for multiple-choice and true/false items. Proofs and long word problems are better as short-answer questions.

Does the free plan cover a full math course?

The free plan includes 3 generations per month and in-browser study, which is enough to test a few chapters. Plus removes the monthly limit with unlimited generations.
