How a math quiz helps you practice

Working through a math quiz built from your own class material shows which steps you can do alone and which ones still stall. Algebra units mix solving equations, factoring and graphing, and a quiz drawn from your lecture notes tests the same methods your teacher used.

  • Solve a linear equation from your notes and check the answer by substitution.
  • Spot a wrong step in a worked example with a true/false prompt.
  • Practice factoring and graphing in the same quiz to keep the methods separate.
  • On a Plus plan, export the finished quiz to PDF or DOCX for paper practice.
Example algebra quiz questions with answers
Solve 3x + 5 = 20.x = 5. Subtract 5 from both sides to get 3x = 15, then divide both sides by 3.
True or false: (x + 3)^2 = x^2 + 9False. Expanding gives x^2 + 6x + 9, because the middle term 2 · x · 3 = 6x is missing.
What is the slope of the line through (1, 2) and (3, 8)?3. The rise of 6 divided by the run of 2 gives a slope of 3.
Solve x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0.x = 2 or x = 3. Factor to (x - 2)(x - 3) = 0, then set each factor equal to zero.
What is 2^x when x = 0?1. Any nonzero number raised to the power 0 equals 1.

Three question types

Multiple-choice, true/false and open questions, so you can match the format to the lesson.

Explanations for every answer

Each question shows why the correct answer works, so a wrong guess becomes a lesson.

Built from your own material

Upload PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or photos of pages, which are read with text recognition.

How it works

Upload your material

Add a PDF, slides, DOCX, notes or a photo of a worked page.

Choose question types

Pick multiple-choice, true/false or open questions for your math quiz.

Take the quiz and review

Answer in the browser, then read the explanation for each question you miss.

Multiple-choice questions are quick to check, true/false questions catch common misconceptions such as expanding (x + 3)^2 as x^2 + 9, and open questions make you write out the reasoning. Mixing all three gives a clearer picture than rereading worked examples.

Frequently asked questions

How should I study math quiz answers so they stick?

Work each problem on paper before checking the answer, and read the explanation for every question you miss. Come back to the missed questions a day or two later to see if the method holds up.

What topics work best for a math quiz?

Focus on one skill per quiz, such as solving linear equations or factoring quadratics, and add a few review questions from earlier units. Narrow quizzes make it easier to see exactly where your understanding breaks down.

Can I export a math quiz to Moodle or QTI?

QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are included in the Pro plan at $14.99 per month. PDF and DOCX export are part of Plus at $99.90 per year or $9.99 per month.

Is there a free way to try DeckOwl first?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, and no credit card is needed to start.
