How to build MCAT practice questions around your own gaps
Most free MCAT practice questions online are fixed sets written for someone else's review plan, so the topics you find hard rarely line up with them. DeckOwl generates questions from the material you already study: upload your notes or slides and get multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions, each with an explanation. The free plan includes 3 generations per month, so you can test the workflow before you commit.
- Generate questions from your own review notes instead of a fixed question bank
- Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short answer formats for each topic
- Read an explanation after every answer, including the ones you got right
- Save exports for later review on the Plus or Pro plan
Questions from your material
Upload PDFs, DOCX files, PPTX slides, plain text or photos of pages. The questions come from what you are actually studying.
Explanations for every answer
Each multiple-choice, true/false and short answer question includes an explanation, so a wrong answer teaches you why.
Study in the browser
Work through questions on any device. Pair them with spaced repetition flashcards and mind maps when you want a different angle.
How it works
Upload your notes
Add a PDF, slides, a DOCX file or a photo of your review sheet.
Choose a question type
Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions for the topic you need to drill.
Answer and review
Attempt each question, read the explanation, and return to the missed ones later.
Start with the sections where your practice scores are lowest, then upload the review notes or lecture slides for those topics. Keep the question types mixed so you practice recognizing an answer and also explaining it in your own words. Reread the explanation for every miss, even when you guessed correctly.
Exports to PDF or DOCX are available on the Plus plan, and Anki and CSV export are also included there, so your questions can move into the tools you already use for review. Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export for courses that run on those systems.

Frequently asked questions
How many MCAT practice questions should I do each day?
No single number works for everyone. Many students settle on a steady daily block they can finish with a full review of every missed question.
How should I review MCAT questions I got wrong?
Sort the misses by topic, reread the explanation, and try a fresh question on the same idea a day or two later. Spacing the review makes the correction stick better than rereading the same item right away.
Can I export the questions I generate?
Free accounts study in the browser without exports. Plus includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.
Do I need a credit card to try it?
No. You can start on the free plan with 3 generations per month and no credit card. Students with a school email get 40% off paid plans.
