Turn your own MCAT notes into a practice test
Upload your study material and get multiple-choice, true/false or open questions with explanations, so you practice on content you are actually studying.
How a UK student can use an MCAT practice test
If you are applying to US medical schools from the UK, you will need to sit the MCAT, and a UK MCAT practice test built from your own revision notes is a practical way to rehearse it. Official AAMC questions are not included here, so the questions reflect the material you upload rather than the exam bank itself.
- Questions are generated from your own uploaded notes, slides or PDFs
- Multiple-choice, true/false and short answer formats with explanations
- Spaced repetition on the Plus plan helps you retain what you miss
- Free plan includes 3 generations per month, with no credit card needed to start
Built from your material
Upload PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or photos of pages, and questions are written from what you uploaded.
Explanations for every answer
Each question comes with an explanation so you can see why an option is right or wrong, not just your score.
Study in the browser or export
Practice on the free plan in the browser, or export to PDF or DOCX and Anki on Plus, and QTI 2.1 or Moodle XML on Pro.
How it works
Upload your notes
Add a PDF, slides, a Word file or photos of textbook pages covering the MCAT sections you need to revise.
Choose a question type
Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions, and set how many you want for a practice set.
Sit the test and review
Work through the questions, then read each explanation and note which topics you need to go back over.
Check your target before you start. If you are aiming for a UK medical school, the test you normally sit is the UCAT, so make sure you are preparing for the right exam. For the MCAT, your notes should cover biological and biochemical foundations, chemical and physical foundations, psychological, social and biological foundations, and critical analysis and reasoning skills.
Practice works best in short timed sets spread over several weeks. Review the explanations for questions you got right as well as wrong, and keep a list of topics where you keep losing marks so the next set targets them.

Frequently asked questions
What MCAT topics should a practice test cover?
A useful practice test covers the four MCAT sections: biological and biochemical foundations, chemical and physical foundations, psychological, social and biological foundations, and critical analysis and reasoning skills. Upload notes for each section so the questions match what you need to revise.
How should I use practice tests when studying for the MCAT?
Take timed sets to build pace, then review every explanation, including the questions you answered correctly. Track the topics where you lose marks and revisit them in later sessions.
Does DeckOwl include official AAMC questions?
No. Questions are generated from the notes and documents you upload, so they reflect your own study material rather than official exam items.
Can I export my practice test?
Exporting to PDF and DOCX is on the Plus plan at $39/year or $7.99/month, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML exports are on Pro at $14.99/month. The free plan lets you study in the browser with 3 generations per month.
