What a PDF to quiz converter does and does not do

DeckOwl does not export HTML, so it is not a PDF to quiz converter for building web pages. What it does is read your PDF and write the quiz for you, with multiple-choice, true/false or open questions and an explanation for each answer.

  • Works from your own PDF, slides or notes, not generic quiz banks
  • Every question includes an explanation of the correct answer
  • Free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study
  • Students get 40% off with a school email, and no credit card is needed to start

Three question types

Multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer questions, generated from the material you upload.

Explanations for every answer

Frequently asked questions

What HTML topics make good quiz questions?

Tag purpose, attributes, document structure and character encoding all work well as questions. Upload a textbook chapter or your own HTML notes and the quiz will focus on those terms.

How many questions should a quiz on HTML basics have?

Ten to fifteen questions is a good range for one chapter. Retake the quiz after a day or two so you practice recall rather than remembering the order of answers.

Can I export the quiz to HTML?

No, DeckOwl does not export HTML. Plus includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.

Do I need a credit card to try it?

No. The free plan gives you 3 generations per month with browser study, and you can upgrade later if you need exports.
