How a quiz maker for QCM saves study time

Writing QCM questions by hand from a long chapter can take hours, and a quiz maker for QCM produces a first draft in minutes. Upload the PDF, slides or notes you already have and DeckOwl drafts multiple-choice, true/false and open questions, each with an explanation for the correct answer.

  • Multiple-choice, true/false and open questions from one upload
  • Explanations on every question so wrong answers still teach something
  • Free plan with 3 generations a month, studied in the browser
  • Export to PDF and DOCX on Plus; QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro

True or false: during osmosis, water moves toward the side with the higher solute concentration.True. Water moves across the membrane toward higher solute concentration, balancing the solute levels on both sides.
True or false: DNA replication is semiconservative.True. Each new double helix keeps one original strand and gains one newly synthesized strand.

How it works

Upload your material

Add a PDF, slides, notes or a photo of a page. Text in images is read with text recognition.

Pick the question types

Select multiple-choice, true/false or open questions, then generate your QCM set.

Review and practice

Check each question and explanation, remove weak options, and study the set in the browser.

Good QCM practice depends on distractors that are plausible but wrong. Review each draft, remove weak options and keep the explanations, since they show why the right answer is right and why the others are not.

Frequently asked questions

What is a QCM and how is it different from true/false?

A QCM, or questionnaire à choix multiples, asks you to pick one or more answers from a list of options. A true/false question offers only two choices, so QCMs usually test finer distinctions between similar ideas.

How many answer choices should a QCM question have?

Four or five choices is the common pattern, with one clearly correct answer and the rest as plausible distractors. Make sure each wrong option reflects a real mistake students make, not an obviously silly guess.

Can I export my QCM quiz to Moodle?

Yes, Moodle XML export is available on the Pro plan, and QTI 2.1 export is also included there. PDF and DOCX export are on the Plus plan.

Is there a free plan to try the quiz maker?

Yes, the free plan includes 3 generations per month and lets you study in the browser. Exports require a paid plan, and no credit card is needed to start.
