What a quiz creator can and cannot make

Teachers and students who search for a video quiz creator often want a set of questions to check understanding after a lesson. DeckOwl covers that need by generating the questions from the material you already have, not by producing video.

  • Upload PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or photos of pages
  • Multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer questions with explanations
  • Export to PDF, DOCX, Moodle XML or QTI 2.1 on paid plans
  • Free plan includes 3 generations per month with browser study
Example electric circuits quiz questions
In a series circuit, what quantity is the same through every component?Current. A series circuit has only one path, so the same current flows through each component.
True or false: adding a resistor in parallel lowers the total resistance.True. Each parallel branch gives current another path, so the combined resistance drops.
What does Ohm's law relate?Voltage, current and resistance through V = IR. Current equals voltage divided by resistance.
Why does a bulb in a series circuit get dimmer when another bulb is added?Total resistance rises, so the current falls. Each bulb receives less current and glows less brightly.
What is the SI unit of electrical power? The watt. Power equals voltage times current, so one watt is one volt-ampere.

Questions from your own material

Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or a photo of a page, and get questions written from that exact content.

Explanations for every answer

Each question comes with a short explanation, so a wrong answer teaches you why the right one is correct.

Export when you need it

Take quizzes to PDF or DOCX, or to Moodle XML and QTI 2.1 for a learning management system.

How it works

Upload your notes or slides

Add a file or paste text. Photos of printed pages are read with text recognition.

Choose question types

Pick multiple choice, true/false, short answer or a mix, and set how many questions you want.

Study or export the quiz

Answer in the browser, review the explanations, or export the finished quiz for a class or LMS.

Once your notes or slides are uploaded, the quiz is written from that content and each question includes an explanation. You can practice in the browser, and paid plans add exports for printing, sharing or importing into a course site.

Because the quiz is based on your own source, you control the topic. Upload the chapter or lecture you are covering and check the questions against it before you assign them.

Frequently asked questions

How should I study electric circuits using generated quiz questions?

Answer each question before reading the explanation, then redraw the circuit from memory for any you missed. Repeat the missed questions the next day so the concepts stick.

How many questions should I generate for electric circuits?

A dozen or so per chapter works well, with separate sets for series circuits, parallel circuits and Ohm's law. Smaller sets make it easier to find the gaps in your understanding.

Does DeckOwl make video quizzes?

No. DeckOwl creates quizzes from text, slides, PDFs and photos of pages, and it does not produce video.

Are quiz exports free?

No. PDF and DOCX exports are part of the Plus plan, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML exports require Pro. The free plan lets you study quizzes in the browser.
