How the AI quiz maker works with your own material

Students and instructors who like the quick, game-style feel of Quizizz often want an AI quiz maker that starts from their own lecture notes instead of a fixed question bank. DeckOwl reads the file you upload and proposes questions that match its content.

  • Works with PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text and photos of pages
  • Multiple-choice, true/false and short answer question types
  • Explanations for every question to reinforce the correct reasoning
  • Exports to PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV on Plus; QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro
Example probability basics practice questions
A fair six-sided die is rolled once. What is the probability of rolling an even number?1/2. Three of the six faces (2, 4 and 6) are even, so 3/6 simplifies to 1/2.
True or false: two mutually exclusive events can both happen on the same trial.False. Mutually exclusive events cannot occur together, so if one happens the other cannot.
If events A and B are independent, what is P(A and B)?P(A) times P(B). Independence means that knowing A occurred does not change the probability of B.
A bag has 3 red and 5 blue marbles. What is the probability of drawing a red marble?3/8. There are 8 marbles in total and 3 of them are red, so 3 of the 8 equally likely outcomes favor red.
What is the complement rule for the probability of an event A?P(not A) = 1 - P(A). Together, A and not A cover every outcome, so their probabilities add to 1.

Start from your own material

Upload PDFs, DOCX files, PPTX slides, plain text notes or photos of pages. Questions come from what you actually studied, not a generic bank.

Explanations on every question

Each multiple-choice, true/false and short answer question includes an explanation, so a wrong answer teaches you the reason behind the right one.

Export when you need it

Study in the browser on the free plan. Plus adds PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export. Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning systems.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add a file or paste text. Scanned pages are read with text recognition.

Choose question types

Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short answer. Mix them to match how you will be tested.

Review, study or export

Check the questions and explanations, practice in the browser, then export if your plan includes it.

Each question comes with an explanation, which makes the quiz useful for review and not just scoring. Short answer items ask you to produce the idea yourself, while true/false and multiple-choice items check recognition and common misconceptions.

Because the quiz is built from your material, you can regenerate it after changing your notes or uploading a new chapter. The free plan allows 3 generations per month, and paid plans remove that limit.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions should I generate from one chapter of probability notes?

Start with a set that covers each rule once, such as complements, independent events and conditional probability. Add more questions on any topic that still feels shaky after you review the explanations.

What is the difference between independent and mutually exclusive events?

Independent events do not change each other's probabilities, so P(A and B) equals P(A) times P(B). Mutually exclusive events cannot happen at the same time, so P(A and B) equals 0.

Can I export the quiz to Moodle or QTI?

Yes, on the Pro plan, which includes QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export. PDF and DOCX export are included with Plus.

Is there a free plan to try it?

Yes, the free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, and no credit card is needed to start. Exports require a paid plan.
