How to build a hukum tajwid quiz from your own notes

Teachers and learners often have tajwid material spread across a printed book, a handout and a set of lecture slides. A hukum tajwid quiz works best when it is built from that same material, so the questions match the examples your teacher used and the verses you recite in class.

  • Covers noon sakinah and tanween rules: izhar, idgham, iqlab and ikhfa.
  • Includes qalqalah, madd and makharij when they appear in your source.
  • The free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser.
  • Students get 40% off with a school email, and no credit card is needed to start.
Example hukum tajwid quiz questions
What is idgham, and which letters trigger it?Merging a noon sakinah or tanween into the next letter when that letter is one of the six idgham letters, ي ر م ل و ن. Ghunnah is held with ي ن م و and dropped with ر and ل, because the merge sound depends on the letter.
What happens to noon sakinah or tanween before the letter ب?It changes to a meem sound with ghunnah, which is iqlab. The change happens because ب and meem are both labial letters, so the lips make the sound together.
Which five letters are qalqalah letters?ق ط ب ج د, which bounce with an echo when they carry sukun. The bounce is the feature that sets them apart, so it is the first thing to check.
How many letters trigger ikhfa after noon sakinah or tanween?Fifteen letters. The noon is pronounced with a hidden nasal sound, which sits between izhar, where the letter is clear, and idgham, where it merges.
Which six throat letters trigger izhar halqi?ء ه ع ح غ خ, which are pronounced clearly with no ghunnah. They come from the throat, so the noon is not merged or hidden before them.

Questions in three formats

Multiple choice, true/false and open questions let you check recall of a rule and also how it applies inside a passage.

Explanations for every answer

Each question explains why the correct answer is right, so a wrong guess becomes a lesson on idgham, ikhfa or iqlab.

Built from your own material

Start with your teacher's handout, a scanned page or lecture slides instead of a generic list of rules.

How it works

Upload your material

Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain-text notes or a photo of a page.

Choose the question types

Pick multiple choice, true/false or open questions for the tajwid rules you are studying.

Study and export

Practice in the browser on the free plan, or export to PDF or DOCX on a paid plan.

Upload the pages and the tool reads the text, including photos taken with a phone. Each question comes with an explanation, which matters for rules like idgham and ikhfa where the reason behind the sound is easy to forget. Paid plans add PDF and DOCX export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for classes that run their own learning platform.

Frequently asked questions

Which tajweed rules should a beginner learn first?

Most beginners start with the makharij of letters and the four rules of noon sakinah and tanween (izhar, idgham, iqlab and ikhfa), since they appear in almost every passage. Madd and qalqalah come next.

How do I practice hukum tajwid without memorizing every rule at once?

Work through one rule group per session, recite a short passage aloud, and quiz yourself on examples where that rule applies. Repeat the questions you missed the next day.

Can I export my quiz?

Exporting to PDF and DOCX is a paid feature on Plus, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are on Pro. The free plan lets you study the quiz in the browser.

Can I make a quiz from a photo of a tajwid book page?

Yes. Photos of pages are read with text recognition, so you can upload them alongside PDFs, slides or notes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month.
