Turn your own notes into a Quizizz-style quiz with answers

DeckOwl is not affiliated with Quizizz and cannot give you a game code. It creates multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer quizzes from material you already have, with explanations for every answer.

What a Quizizz code is and what to do instead

Teachers who run live quiz games use a short join code so students can enter a session, and a Quizizz code only works for a game that someone is hosting on that platform right now. DeckOwl can't find or issue those codes, so if you need to join a particular game, your teacher or the host is the right person to ask.

  • Ask the host or teacher for the current code, since game codes change for each session.
  • Upload your own slides or notes to create a quiz that matches what you are learning.
  • Use multiple choice for quick recall and short answer for explaining ideas in your own words.
  • Retake missed questions and read every explanation before moving on to the next topic.
Example intro coding quiz questions
In Python, what does len("code") return?4. The string has four characters, and len() counts each one.
True or false: a single = sign compares two values for equality in Python.False. A single = assigns a value to a variable, while == compares two values.
What is a loop used for in programming?Repeating a block of code while a condition is true or once for each item in a collection.
What does a return statement do inside a function? It sends a value back to the code that called the function and ends the function's execution.
Why does indentation matter in Python?Python uses indentation to decide which lines belong to a block, so incorrect indentation changes the meaning or causes an error.

Built from your files

Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text notes or a photo of a page, and the text is pulled out for you.

Explanations included

Each question comes with a short explanation, so a wrong answer teaches you something instead of just marking you down.

Export when you need it

Plus exports to PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning platforms.

How it works

Upload your material

Add the PDF, slides or notes your class is using. No credit card is needed to start.

Choose the question types

Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer, and generate a quiz from your own content.

Practice in the browser

Answer the questions, read the explanations and retry the ones you missed until they stick.

What DeckOwl can do is turn the study material you already have into a quiz you can take on your own. Upload your lecture slides or notes, pick the question types you want, and you get questions with explanations you can work through alone or share as a file. For a coding class, that means quizzes built from your actual course readings rather than generic questions.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to study coding concepts before a quiz?

Practice with short questions on one concept at a time, such as variables, loops or functions, and explain each answer out loud. Revisit the concepts you missed after a day or two so they stay in memory.

How many practice questions should I do for a programming topic?

Aim for 10 to 20 questions per topic in a session, then mix in questions from earlier topics to keep them fresh. If you keep missing the same question, reread the related section of your notes before trying again.

Is there a free plan, and can I export my quiz?

The free plan includes 3 generations per month and lets you study in the browser, but exports are not included. Exporting to PDF, DOCX, Anki or CSV requires the Plus plan at $39 per year or $7.99 per month.

Can I export quizzes to Moodle XML or QTI?

Yes, QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are part of the Pro plan at $14.99 per month. Students with a school email get 40% off any paid plan.
