Why build your own quiz instead of a ready-made one
Many people who type quizizz wayground into a search bar want practice questions they can use in class or at home, not a generic library they have to sort through.
- Questions drawn from your own PDFs, slides, notes or photos
- Multiple choice, true/false and short answer with explanations
- Study in the browser on the free plan
- Export to PDF, DOCX, Anki or CSV on Plus; QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro
Built from your material
Questions come from the PDFs, slides, DOCX files, notes or page photos you upload, so the quiz matches what your class actually covered.
Explanations on every answer
Each multiple-choice, true/false or short-answer question includes a short explanation, so a wrong answer becomes a lesson instead of a dead end.
Export when you need it
Save to PDF or DOCX on Plus, or QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro, to take your quiz into the tools your course already uses.
How it works
Upload your material
Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text file or a photo of a page. Text recognition reads the photo.
Choose question types
Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer, and set how many questions you want.
Practice and review
Work through the quiz in your browser, then read the explanations for any questions you missed.
A ready-made quiz may not match the chapter your class covered, so the wording and difficulty can feel off. DeckOwl works from the material you already have, so each question comes from your own slides or notes, and every answer includes an explanation you can read after a miss.
Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or a photo of a page, then choose multiple choice, true/false or short answer. Free accounts can study in the browser; exports to PDF and DOCX need Plus, and QTI 2.1 or Moodle XML need Pro.

Frequently asked questions
Is Wayground the same as Quizizz?
Quizizz adopted the Wayground name in 2024, so both names often show up in searches. DeckOwl is a separate tool and is not affiliated with either.
How many questions should a practice quiz have?
Around 10 to 20 focused questions usually covers one chapter or lecture well. Longer quizzes tend to tire students before they finish, so split large units into several quizzes.
Can I export my quiz to Wayground or Quizizz?
DeckOwl does not connect directly to Wayground or Quizizz. Exports to PDF and DOCX are on Plus, and QTI 2.1 or Moodle XML exports are on Pro, which some learning platforms can import.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes 5 generations a week and lets you study in the browser, but exports are not included. No credit card is needed to start.
