How to practice SAT scores with your own material

Official practice material runs out, and once you have worked through it you need fresh SAT practice tests that explain College Board scores in the same terms your score report uses.

  • Section scores of 200 to 800 for Reading and Writing and for Math
  • Total score from 400 to 1600, the sum of both sections
  • No penalty for wrong answers, so answer every question
  • Percentile ranks compare your result with other test takers
Example SAT score questions for practice
What is the score range for each SAT section on the digital SAT?Reading and Writing and Math each range from 200 to 800, which is why the total falls between 400 and 1600.
Does the SAT subtract points for wrong answers? No, the SAT has no wrong-answer penalty, so guessing never lowers your score and you should answer every question.
What does a percentile rank on a score report show?It shows the share of test takers whose scores are at or below yours, so a 75th percentile means you scored above roughly three-quarters of that comparison group.
Why might a college consider a superscore? Some colleges combine your highest section scores from different test dates, so a strong Math result from one sitting and a strong Reading and Writing result from another can both count.
Is the essay still part of the SAT?No, the SAT essay was discontinued in 2021, so the current SAT is scored only on Reading and Writing and Math.

Your material, your questions

Upload PDFs, slides, DOCX or PPTX files, plain text notes, or photos of pages, and get questions built from them.

Explanations for every answer

Each question comes with an explanation, so a missed score-range question teaches you the rule behind it.

Study in the browser

The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study. Paid plans add exports to PDF, DOCX and learning systems.

How it works

Upload your prep material

Add a PDF, slide deck, Word file, or notes covering scoring and section content.

Choose question types

Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer, then generate the quiz.

Take it and review

Read each explanation, then retry the questions you missed until the score rules stick.

Scores are where many students get stuck. A composite number means little until you know how the two section scores combine and what a percentile rank measures. Building questions from your own scoring notes lets you drill those rules in a format you can repeat.

Keep a short review loop: take the quiz, read every explanation, and note which score concepts keep coming back. When you need a new set, upload your updated notes instead of hunting for another ready-made test.

Frequently asked questions

How is the SAT total score calculated?

Reading and Writing and Math each produce a scaled score from 200 to 800, and those two are added for a total from 400 to 1600. Raw counts are converted to scaled scores, so the same number of correct answers can map to slightly different scores on different test dates.

Should I focus on Math or Reading and Writing first?

Check your score report to see which section has the most room to grow, and spend more practice time there. The total adds both sections equally, so a weak section pulls the composite down as much as a strong one lifts it.

Can I export my practice quiz?

Exports are paid features: Plus includes PDF and DOCX export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning systems. The free plan lets you study the quiz in the browser.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. You can start on the free plan with 3 generations per month and no credit card. Students get 40% off with a school email.
