Why reviewing a practice test beats just scoring it

Effective SAT practice test review starts with the questions you got wrong, not the score at the top of the page. Each missed item points to a specific gap, such as a punctuation rule or a linear equation, and that gap is what you should drill next.

  • Sort missed questions by section and skill, such as reading inference or systems of equations.
  • Redo each wrong answer before you reread the explanation.
  • Label the reason for each miss: careless error, unknown rule, or misread question.
  • Review the same skills again after a few days and track which ones still give you trouble.
Example SAT review questions with answers

Frequently asked questions

How many questions should I review after each SAT practice test?

Review every question you missed and every question you guessed correctly, since a lucky guess can hide a gap. Most students find it useful to go through the whole test rather than only the sections with low scores.

Should I review SAT math and reading and writing separately?

Yes, sort missed questions by section and by skill, such as linear equations or comma usage, so patterns become visible. Separate quizzes for each section make your next study session more focused.

Can I export my SAT review quiz?

Exports are a paid feature: Plus includes PDF and DOCX export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML. The free plan lets you study in the browser, with 3 generations per month.

Does DeckOwl work with my own practice test PDFs?

Yes, you can upload PDFs, DOCX or PPTX files, notes, or photos of pages, and DeckOwl reads the text to build questions. It creates a custom quiz from your material rather than providing a printable ready-made test.
