How to use practice questions for the SAT

Students in the UK preparing for the SAT practice test route often have a mix of sources: official College Board tests, prep books, and their own class notes. Official tests show the real format, but they cannot cover every topic your teacher has covered, and they run out. A custom quiz built from your own material fills that gap.

  • Multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer questions from your own notes
  • Explanations for every answer so you can see where your reasoning went wrong
  • Free plan with 3 generations per month and no credit card needed to start
  • Students get 40% off with a school email
Example SAT-style practice questions with answers
In the sentence 'The trial was small; however, its results were consistent,' what does 'however' signal?A contrast between the two clauses. The consistent results are unexpected given how small the trial was.
If 3x + 7 = 22, what is the value of x?x = 5. Subtracting 7 gives 3x = 15, and dividing both sides by 3 gives x = 5.
What is the slope of the line y = -4x + 9?-4. In slope-intercept form y = mx + b, the coefficient of x is the slope.
What is 15% of 240?36. Converting 15% to 0.15 and multiplying by 240 gives 36.
What is the area of a circle with radius 4? Use π ≈ 3.14.50.24 square units. The area is πr², so 3.14 × 4 × 4 = 50.24.

Built from your material

Upload PDFs, DOCX or PPTX files, plain notes, or photos of pages. Text is read from images, so a photographed worksheet works too.

Three question types

Get multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer questions, each with an explanation that shows why the correct answer is right.

Study in the browser

The free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study. Plus and Pro add exports for sharing or printing.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add a PDF, slide deck, document or photo of your SAT study material.

Choose a quiz type

Pick multiple-choice, true/false or open questions and set how many you want.

Take the quiz and review

Answer the questions, read each explanation, and redo the ones you missed later.

The most useful part of a practice set is the review. Work through a timed section, check each wrong answer against its explanation, and then redo the missed questions a few days later. Repeating the questions you got wrong is what turns a one-off test into lasting skill.

DeckOwl makes this quick. Upload the notes or past questions you already have, generate a quiz, and study it in the browser. Spaced repetition on the paid plans brings back the questions you find hardest.

Frequently asked questions

How should I use practice tests when preparing for the SAT?

Take a full timed section under test conditions, then go through every missed question and its explanation. Redo the missed questions a few days later to check that the fix has stuck.

Which SAT sections should I practise first?

Start with the section where your practice scores are lowest, since that is usually where the quickest gains are. The SAT has separate Reading and Writing and Math sections, so track your results for each one.

Can I export a DeckOwl quiz?

Exports are a paid feature. PDF and DOCX export are included on Plus, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are included on Pro.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, and you do not need a credit card to start.
