Why build your own AQA physics flashcards

Ready-made sets of AQA A Level physics flashcards are easy to find, but they rarely match the exact points your teacher covered or the wording in your own notes. Printed sets also do not change when your class moves on to a new topic.

  • Upload the notes from your lessons, not a generic syllabus summary
  • Keep one idea per card, such as a definition, a unit, or a formula with its conditions
  • Review hard cards more often than easy ones, which spaced repetition handles for you
  • Use quiz questions alongside flashcards to practice applying equations in context
Example AQA A Level physics flashcards
What is the difference between scalar and vector quantities?A scalar has magnitude only, such as mass or speed. A vector has magnitude and direction, such as velocity or force.
State Newton's second law of motion. The resultant force on an object equals its rate of change of momentum. For constant mass, F = ma.
What is the photoelectric effect?Electrons are emitted from a metal surface when light of sufficient frequency shines on it. Below the threshold frequency, no electrons are emitted however bright the light is.
What does Ohm's law state? The current through a metal conductor at constant temperature is proportional to the potential difference across it, so V = IR.
How do random errors differ from systematic errors?Random errors vary unpredictably between readings and can be reduced by repeating measurements. Systematic errors shift every reading in the same direction and are not reduced by repeats.

Built from your own material

Upload PDFs, DOCX files, PPTX slides, plain notes, or photos of pages. The cards reflect the wording and topics your teacher actually covered.

Spaced repetition

Cards you find hard come back sooner, and cards you know move further apart, so study time goes to the ideas you are least sure of.

Quizzes and mind maps too

Turn the same notes into multiple choice, true or false, and short answer questions with explanations, or map how topics like forces and waves connect.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add a PDF, slides, a Word file, typed notes, or a photo of a page. Photos are read with text recognition.

Review the generated cards

Check the flashcards against your specification and edit anything that needs changing before you start.

Study on a schedule

Work through the daily reviews in the browser. Export to Anki or CSV on a paid plan if you prefer another app.

Making cards yourself takes time, and many students stop after the first week. Generating them from your own lesson notes and past paper material gives you a set that fits your course, and spaced repetition keeps the topics you find hardest coming back until they stick.

Frequently asked questions

How many flashcards should I make for one AQA A Level physics topic?

There is no fixed number, but one idea per card works best. A topic such as circular motion might need cards for definitions, units, key equations, and the conditions where each equation applies.

How should I use flashcards for AQA A Level physics calculations?

Write the front as the situation and the back as the method and key step, not just the final number. Then practice working the full problem on paper so you can apply the method to new questions.

Can I export my AQA physics flashcards to Anki?

Yes, Anki export is available on the Plus plan at $99.90/year or $9.99/month. The free plan lets you study the cards in the browser without exports.

Is there a free plan to try DeckOwl?

Yes, the free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study. No credit card is needed to start, and students with a school email get 40% off paid plans.
