Why build your own alphabet deck

Printable Arabic alphabet flashcards with pictures are easy to find, but a ready-made sheet uses pictures and example words you may not need. A deck built from your own class handout or textbook matches the letter forms and vocabulary your teacher expects.

  • Upload your own alphabet chart, handout or textbook photo instead of a generic printable.
  • Keep one card per letter in isolated form, and add separate cards for connected forms.
  • Pair each letter with a short example word and its picture so the image helps recall.
  • Export the finished deck to PDF on the Plus plan when you want a printable copy.
Example Arabic alphabet flashcards with pictures

ب (ba)بيت (bayt), house. Picture: a small house with a door and window.
ت (ta)تفاحة (tuffaha), apple. Picture: a red apple with a leaf.
ج (jim)جمل (jamal), camel. Picture: a camel standing in sand.
ش (shin)شمس (shams), sun. Picture: a sun with rays over hills.

Letters paired with pictures

Each card can pair a letter with the word it starts and the picture from your source, such as ج and a camel.

Works from photos

Snap a page of your alphabet handout and upload the image. Text recognition reads the letters and words on the page.

Spaced repetition

Cards you miss come back sooner, and letters you know move to longer gaps so review time goes to the hard ones.

How it works

Upload your letter sheet

Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text notes or a photo of the chart with its pictures.

Generate the cards

DeckOwl creates front-and-back flashcards for each letter, with the word and picture description on the back.

Study or export

Review in the browser on the Free plan, or export to PDF, Anki or CSV on Plus.

The Arabic alphabet has 28 letters, and most letters change shape depending on where they sit in a word. Make separate cards for the isolated, initial, medial and final forms, or cards for common example words, so you recognize the letter in real text and not only in a chart.

DeckOwl does not add pictures from its own library. Pictures come from the material you upload, so use a chart or page that already includes them, and the generated cards will keep those images or their descriptions.

Frequently asked questions

How many letters should one flashcard deck cover?

The alphabet has 28 letters, so many learners start with groups of four to six letters. Smaller batches make it easier to notice which letter shapes you mix up.

Should I learn the letter names or the letter shapes first?

Learn the name and sound with the isolated shape first, then add the initial, medial and final forms once the basic letters feel familiar. Each form deserves its own card because the shape changes with position.

Can I download the flashcards as a PDF?

PDF export is part of the Plus plan, which costs $99.90/year or $9.99/month. The Free plan lets you study the cards in the browser with 3 generations per month and no exports.

Do students get a discount?

Students get 40% off with a school email. You can start without a credit card.
