Turn your addition worksheets into flash cards in minutes

Printed addition drills are fine for practice, but cards built from the exact problems you miss are more useful. Upload a photo of a worksheet, a PDF of notes or a slide deck, and DeckOwl builds flashcards you can review with spaced repetition.

Why custom addition cards beat printed ones

Printed worksheets are fine for practice, but addition flash cards work better when they come from the exact problems you keep missing. A generic set of sums cannot tell you that 7 + 8 is the one that trips you up every time.

  • Turn a photo of a worksheet into flashcards without retyping
  • Include carrying, word problems and number facts in one deck
  • Let spaced repetition focus review on the sums you miss
  • Start free with 5 generations a week and no credit card
Example addition flash cards for early math
What is the commutative property of addition?Changing the order of the addends does not change the sum, so 3 + 9 = 9 + 3 = 12.
What is 46 + 27?73. Add the ones (6 + 7 = 13, write 3 and carry 1), then the tens (4 + 2 + 1 = 7).
What is the associative property of addition?Regrouping the addends does not change the sum, so (2 + 3) + 5 = 2 + (3 + 5) = 10.
What is the identity property of addition?Adding zero to any number leaves it unchanged, so 14 + 0 = 14.
What is an addend?A number being added. In 6 + 4 = 10, the addends are 6 and 4, and the sum is 10.

Built from your own pages

Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or a photo of a worksheet. Text recognition reads the problems and answers so you do not retype them.

Spaced repetition

Cards you miss come back sooner and cards you know fade to longer gaps, so practice time goes to the facts that need it.

Study anywhere

Review in the browser on any device. Paid plans also export your cards to Anki or CSV when you want them somewhere else.

How it works

Add your material

Upload a worksheet photo, a PDF of your class notes or a list of facts you need to memorize.

Generate the cards

DeckOwl writes question and answer pairs, such as a sum on the front and the total on the back.

Review on a schedule

Study the deck each day. Cards you get wrong return more often until they stick.

Start with the material you already have. A teacher's worksheet, a photo of your homework page or a list of number facts can each become a deck. Check the generated cards against your source, remove any that are too easy, and add a few that cover carrying or word problems.

Review the deck in short sessions. Spaced repetition brings back the cards you miss, so the same facts appear again until you answer them quickly and correctly.

Frequently asked questions

How many addition flash cards should I make at once?

Start with 15 to 20 cards covering the facts you miss most often. Add more once those are answered quickly, so each session stays short enough to finish.

Should the front of an addition card show the problem or the answer?

Put the problem on the front, such as 8 + 5, and the total on the back. For properties like commutative addition, put the rule on the front and an example on the back.

Can I print or export my addition flash cards?

The free plan studies in the browser without exports. Plus includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export, so printing and moving decks are paid features.

Is there a free plan to try this?

Yes. The free plan includes 5 generations a week and no credit card is needed to start.
