Why build your own Italian GCSE flashcards

Ready-made sets of Italian GCSE flashcards are easy to find, but they rarely match the vocabulary your teacher set or the topics on your exam board. A deck built from your own textbook unit, class handout or photographed vocab sheet covers exactly what you need to learn.

  • Verb tables for present, perfect and future tenses
  • Vocabulary grouped by GCSE theme, such as family, school and holidays
  • Gender and plural patterns with example phrases
  • Cards for common phrases used in speaking and writing tasks
Example Italian GCSE flashcards
How do you say 'I am going to school' in Italian?Vado a scuola. Vado is the first-person singular of andare, and a scuola means to school.
What is the past participle of 'mangiare' (to eat)?Mangiato. Regular -are verbs form the passato prossimo with avere and -ato, so ho mangiato means I ate.
What is the gender of 'la mano' (the hand)?Feminine. Mano ends in -o but is feminine, so its plural is le mani.
What does 'mi piace' mean, and what does piacere agree with?I like. Literally it means it is pleasing to me, so the verb agrees with the thing liked, not the person.
What is the Italian word for 'weather'?Il tempo. It also means time, so the context tells you which meaning fits.

Review little and often

Study for a few minutes each day and let spaced repetition decide which cards come back next.

Frequently asked questions

How many flashcards should I make for Italian GCSE vocabulary?

Most students work well with one deck per topic, such as family, school or travel, with 20 to 40 cards each. Keep fronts to a single word or short phrase so you can recall the meaning in a few seconds.

What should Italian GCSE flashcards include besides vocabulary?

Add verb endings, gender and plural patterns, and common phrases for speaking and writing tasks. Cards that show a sentence with a gap help you practise using words in context.

Can I export my Italian flashcards to Anki or as a PDF?

Yes, but exports are part of the Plus plan at $99.90 a year or $9.99 a month. The free plan lets you study your flashcards in the browser with 3 generations per month.

Do I need a credit card to try DeckOwl?

No, you can start on the free plan without a credit card. Students with a school email get 40% off paid plans.
