Turn your IT notes on SQL joins into practice quizzes
DeckOwl is not Gimkit and does not host live games. It writes multiple-choice, true/false and short answer questions with explanations from your PDFs, slides or notes.
How the IT join quiz works
Most students searching for a Gimkit-style IT join quiz want to practice SQL joins before an exam, not run a live game. DeckOwl cannot join a Gimkit session, but it can turn your lecture slides on INNER, LEFT and FULL joins into questions with explanations you can study right away.
- Multiple-choice, true/false and short answer questions from one upload
- Explanations that show why a join keeps or drops a row
- Flashcards with spaced repetition for join syntax
- Free plan includes 3 generations per month and browser study
Questions from your own material
Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or a photo of a page, and get a question set based on what your instructor actually covered.
Explanations for every answer
Each question includes a short reason, so a wrong guess about how many rows a join returns teaches you the rule behind it.
Flashcards and quizzes together
Use spaced repetition flashcards for join syntax and quizzes for predicting results, all studied in the browser on the free plan.
How it works
Upload your join notes
Add slides, a PDF or typed notes covering INNER, LEFT, RIGHT, FULL OUTER and CROSS joins.
Choose question types
Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions and generate the set in one pass.
Study and export if your plan allows
Practice in the browser on the free plan, or export to PDF or DOCX on Plus and to QTI 2.1 or Moodle XML on Pro.
Each question shows the correct answer and a short reason, so a wrong guess about row counts becomes a lesson on how the join condition works. Paid plans add exports, with PDF and DOCX on Plus and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between INNER JOIN and LEFT JOIN?
INNER JOIN returns only rows where the join condition matches in both tables. LEFT JOIN keeps every row from the left table and fills unmatched right-side columns with NULL.
How should I practice SQL joins before a test?
Work through small tables by hand and predict the row count for each join type before running the query. Check your predictions against the output, then repeat with a different join condition.
Can DeckOwl join a Gimkit game for me?
No. DeckOwl is a separate tool that does not host Gimkit games. It generates quiz questions from your notes that you can study in the browser.
Which exports come with paid plans?
Plus includes unlimited generations and exports such as PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV. Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export, while the free plan has no exports.
