What DeckOwl does with your material

Many people who type gimkit wiki gims want a reference page they can read before class. DeckOwl is not that kind of site, and we do not host any Gimkit wiki content. What we do is take material you already have and turn it into questions you can practice.

  • Questions are generated from your own files, not a generic public list.
  • Each answer comes with an explanation you can review.
  • Multiple-choice, true/false and open questions are all available.
  • Spaced repetition helps you return to the items you miss.
Example practice questions on wiki basics
What is a wiki?A website whose pages can be edited by many people through a browser. Wikipedia is the best-known example, since its pages are shared and revised by its community.
Which wiki feature lets you see earlier versions of a page?Revision history. It logs past edits so you can compare versions or restore an older one.
What is a wiki talk page used for?Discussing how an article should change. Editors use it to coordinate edits and settle disagreements before they change the article itself.
True or false: many public wikis let visitors edit pages without an account.True. Some public wikis allow anonymous edits, which is why active editors often review recent changes.
What does an internal link do on a wiki?It connects one page to another page within the same wiki. It helps readers move between related topics without leaving the site.

Built from your material

Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain notes or a photo of a page, and the questions come from the text you already have.

Explanations with every answer

Each multiple-choice, true/false or short-answer question includes an explanation, so you learn why an answer is right.

Study in the browser

The free plan lets you practice right away with 3 generations per month and no exports, and no credit card is needed to start.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or a photo of your pages.

Choose a question type

Pick multiple choice, true/false or open questions for the topic you are reviewing.

Practice and review

Work through the questions, read the explanations and return to missed items.

Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain notes or a photo of a page, and DeckOwl produces multiple-choice, true/false or short-answer questions, each with an explanation. Because the questions come from your own text, they follow what your teacher actually covers.

Exports to PDF, DOCX and Anki are part of the Plus plan, and QTI 2.1 or Moodle XML export is part of Pro.

Frequently asked questions

How should I study wiki basics for a class quiz?

Start by learning the main parts of a wiki, such as pages, internal links, revision history and talk pages. Then quiz yourself on each part until you can explain what it does without looking.

How many questions should I practice in one session?

A focused set covering one topic is usually easier to learn than a long mixed set. Return to the same questions over several days, because spaced repetition works better than cramming.

Can I export the questions DeckOwl makes?

Exports to PDF, DOCX and Anki are part of the Plus plan. QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are part of the Pro plan.

Is there a free plan?

Yes, the free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, but no exports. No credit card is needed to start.
