Turn your class notes into quiz questions for Google Forms
DeckOwl reads your PDFs, slides or notes and writes multiple-choice, true/false and open questions with explanations. Review them, then copy them into a Google Form in minutes.
Why build a Google Forms quiz from your own notes
A google forms interactive quiz is most useful when its questions come from the material you have to learn, not from a generic template. Writing those questions by hand takes time, and it is easy to skip the topics that were hardest in class.
- Use quiz mode in Google Forms so each answer is scored against a key.
- Write one idea per question so wrong answers point to a specific gap.
- Set feedback on each question so respondents see why an answer was wrong.
- Review every AI-written question against your source before you publish.
Questions from your material
Upload a lecture PDF, slide deck or typed notes and get questions based on what is actually in them.
Answers and explanations
Each question comes with a correct answer and a short explanation, so you can check the key before it goes into a form.
Edit before you publish
Cut, reword or add questions in the browser until the set matches the course you are teaching or taking.
How it works
Upload your material
Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or photo of a page. Photos are read with text recognition.
Pick a question type
Choose multiple-choice, true/false or short answer, then review the generated set.
Build the form
Paste the questions into Google Forms, turn on quiz mode and mark the correct answers in the answer key.
DeckOwl handles the first draft. It produces questions with explanations from your files, and you decide which ones belong in the form. Google Forms then grades multiple-choice and checkbox answers against the key you set, and it is free to use with a Google account.

Frequently asked questions
How do I turn on quiz mode in Google Forms?
Open the form, go to Settings, choose Quizzes, and switch on Make this a quiz. Then set point values and mark the correct answers for each question.
How many questions should a practice quiz have?
Keep it short enough to finish in one sitting, and focus on the topics you missed on your last test. Smaller quizzes you repeat often usually work better than one long quiz you rarely take.
Does DeckOwl export directly to Google Forms?
No. Exports are paid features: PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV on Plus, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML on Pro. For Google Forms, copy the questions and answers into your form by hand.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, but no exports. No credit card is needed to start.
