Mark the correct answer for every quiz question in Google Forms
Set up answer keys in Google Forms, then generate questions with correct answers and explanations from the notes you already have.
How correct answers work in a Google Forms quiz
Setting up a graded form means every question needs a marked answer, and quiz correct answers are the step most people leave until last. The answer key is only as good as the question behind it, so the key has to match the material your class actually covered.
- Turn on Make this a quiz in Settings before adding answer keys.
- Give each question a point value so the total score matches your plan.
- Decide when respondents see their score under Release marks.
- Test the finished form once, then compare each score with your notes.
Correct answers with explanations
Each multiple-choice, true/false or open question comes with its correct answer and a short explanation of why it is right.
Built from your own material
Upload a PDF, slides, DOCX, plain notes or a photo of a page, and questions are written from that content.
Study mode before you grade
Practice the quiz in the browser first, so you can check the answer key before anyone scores against it.
How it works
Upload your notes
Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or image of a page. Photos are read with text recognition.
Generate the quiz
Choose multiple-choice, true/false or open questions. Each one arrives with its correct answer and an explanation.
Check and copy into your form
Review each answer against your source, then enter the questions and correct answers in Google Forms yourself.
DeckOwl reads your PDFs, slides or notes and writes multiple-choice, true/false and open questions. Each question includes its correct answer and a one-sentence explanation, so you can check the key against the source before you enter it in Google Forms.
Google Forms does not receive a finished quiz from DeckOwl, so the questions are copied across by hand. That short review step is also where you catch a wrong option or a vague explanation.

Frequently asked questions
How do I set correct answers in a Google Forms quiz?
Turn on Make this a quiz under Settings, then open each question and choose the right option under Answer key. Add a point value to each question so the total score is clear.
Why does a quiz answer need an explanation as well as a key?
An explanation shows the reasoning behind the correct answer, so a learner who misses it can fix the idea instead of memorizing the letter. Explanations also help you spot a key that is technically right but poorly worded.
Does DeckOwl publish a Google Form for me?
No. DeckOwl generates the questions, correct answers and explanations from your material, and you enter them into Google Forms yourself.
Which DeckOwl plans include exports?
The free plan has no exports. PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export are on Plus at $39/year or $7.99/month, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are on Pro at $14.99/month. Students get 40% off with a school email.
