How an AI multiple choice question maker works

Writing good answer choices takes longer than most people expect, and a AI multiple choice question maker can handle the first draft from the pages you already have. The AI reads your notes, picks out the key facts, and writes a question with one correct answer and plausible wrong options.

  • Works from PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, plain text and photos of pages
  • Mixes multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions
  • Includes an explanation with each question
  • Starts free with no credit card needed
Example fractions and decimals quiz questions
What is 3/4 written as a decimal?0.75. Dividing 3 by 4 gives 0.75.
Which is larger, 2/5 or 0.35?2/5. Dividing 2 by 5 gives 0.4, which is greater than 0.35.
What is 0.6 + 0.25?0.85. Lining up the decimal points gives 0.60 + 0.25 = 0.85.
Simplify 18/24 to lowest terms.3/4. Dividing both the numerator and denominator by 6 gives 3/4.
What is 1/2 ÷ 1/4?2. Dividing by 1/4 asks how many quarters fit into one half, which is two.

Questions from your own material

Upload PDFs, DOCX files, PPTX slides, plain text notes or photos of pages. The questions come from what you actually need to learn.

Explanations for every answer

Each question includes a short explanation, so a wrong pick becomes a lesson instead of a dead end.

Study now, export later

Take the quiz in your browser on the free plan. Paid plans add PDF, DOCX and Anki export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.

How it works

Upload your material

Add a PDF, slides, a Word file, notes or a photo of a textbook page.

Choose the question types

Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer, and set how many questions you want.

Take the quiz and review

Answer in the browser, read the explanations, and go back to the questions you missed.

Good quiz questions test understanding, not just memory of a sentence. Review each generated question before you rely on it, and edit any stem or option that is vague or has more than one defensible answer. Keep the explanations, since they show why an option is right.

When you want to use the questions elsewhere, exports are available on paid plans. Plus includes PDF and DOCX export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning management systems that accept those formats.

Frequently asked questions

How many answer choices should a multiple choice question have?

Four choices is a common format and gives a fair guess rate of one in four. Make sure the wrong options are plausible, such as a common calculation mistake, rather than obviously false.

What makes a good wrong answer in a fractions or decimals quiz?

A good distractor usually comes from a common error, such as adding denominators when adding fractions or misplacing a decimal point. Each wrong option should teach something when you read the explanation.

Can I export AI-generated quizzes to Moodle or QTI?

Yes, but only on the Pro plan, which includes QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export. PDF, DOCX and Anki export are available on the Plus plan.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, but it does not include exports.
