Turn an article link into a quiz by pasting its text
Copy the text from a web page or upload a PDF, slides or notes. DeckOwl writes practice questions with explanations you can study in the browser.
From article link to quiz in three steps
Most of the material people want quizzed lives on a web page, in a lecture handout or in a PDF saved from a browser. If you need a quiz maker using a link, the practical route is to copy the article text, paste it into DeckOwl, and let the AI write questions from that text.
- Paste plain text copied from an article, or upload a saved PDF of the page.
- Generate multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions from the same source.
- Read the explanation after every answer, including the ones you got right.
- Re-study missed questions in the browser, and export to PDF or DOCX on Plus.
Multiple-choice, true/false and short answer
Mix question types in one quiz so you test recognition and recall, not just one skill.
Explanations for every answer
Each question shows why the correct answer is right, so a miss becomes something you learn from.
Works from PDFs, slides and photos
Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX or image of a page, or paste plain text, and the questions come from your own material.
How it works
Paste the page text or upload a file
Copy the article body into DeckOwl or save the page as a PDF and upload it.
Choose question types
Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short answer, then generate the quiz.
Study or export
Practice in the browser on the free plan, or export to PDF or DOCX on Plus.
Once the questions are generated, check each explanation against the source before you study. Drop any question that tests trivia, and keep the ones that explain why a wrong option is wrong.

Frequently asked questions
Can DeckOwl make a quiz directly from a link?
DeckOwl works from uploaded PDFs, slides, images and pasted text, so copy the article text or save the page as a PDF first.
How many quiz questions should I write from one article?
For a single article, 8 to 12 questions that cover the main claims, key terms and any figures are usually enough to test recall. Add more only if the source has separate sections that each need coverage.
What makes a good wrong answer in a multiple-choice quiz?
Each wrong option should be plausible to someone who skimmed the material, such as a term from the same section or a common misconception. Avoid options that are obviously false or much longer than the correct answer.
Can I export quizzes to Moodle XML?
Moodle XML and QTI 2.1 export are on the Pro plan at $14.99 per month. The free plan lets you study in the browser, and Plus at $39 per year or $7.99 per month adds PDF, DOCX and Anki export.
