Plan your SAT practice test timing with a quiz built from your notes
Upload your SAT prep PDFs, slides or notes and get multiple-choice, true/false or short-answer questions with explanations, so you can practice within the real module time limits.
How long the digital SAT runs, section by section
The digital SAT has four timed modules, two in Reading and Writing and two in Math, so the answer to how long a SAT practice test takes depends on which sections you run. Reading and Writing gives 32 minutes per module for 27 questions, and Math gives 35 minutes per module for 22 questions.
- Reading and Writing: two modules of 32 minutes each, 27 questions per module.
- Math: two modules of 35 minutes each, 22 questions per module.
- Total testing time is about 2 hours 14 minutes, plus a 10-minute break.
- Practice at the same module limits so your pacing matches test day.

Practice against the clock
Time yourself with a phone clock using the module limits below, then review the explanations for any misses.
The full timed test runs about 2 hours 14 minutes of testing time, with a 10-minute break between the two sections. Timing matters because the per-question window is tighter than many students expect, so a practice run only helps if you keep the clock running and move on when a module ends.
DeckOwl does not provide official SAT questions, but it can turn your own prep notes, slides or PDFs into a quiz with explanations. Use those questions to practice pacing at the same module limits, and check College Board for the current official format before test day.
