There is no fixed number that suits everyone. Many learners add a small daily batch, often somewhere around 10 to 20 new words, and review consistently instead of adding a large batch at once.
Should HSK flashcards show characters, pinyin or both?
Using both helps most learners. Put the character on the front and the pinyin and meaning on the back, then switch the direction later so you practice recognizing and recalling the characters.
