Write select all that apply quiz questions from your own notes
Upload a PDF, slides, a DOCX or plain notes and get multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions with explanations. Export to PDF or DOCX on Plus, or QTI 2.1 on Pro.
Why select all that apply questions are harder to write
Writing select all that apply items takes more care than single-answer questions, because every option has to be checked on its own. A student can be partly right and still lose credit, so the wording and the answer key both need to be precise.
- Start from your own lecture slides or readings so the questions reflect what is taught.
- Check each option separately and confirm the correct set before you publish the quiz.
- Use explanations to see why a wrong option is wrong, not just which ones are right.
- Practice the same topic again after a few days to see what you remember.
Built from your material
Questions come from the pages you upload, so the content matches what your class covers.
Explanations included
Each question comes with an explanation, so students learn why an answer is right or wrong.
Study in the browser
The free plan lets you practice questions online before you decide whether to export.
How it works
Upload your notes
Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, text file or a photo of a page. Photos are read with text recognition.
Generate questions
Choose multiple-choice, true/false or short answer and get questions with explanations.
Review and export
Edit what you need, study in the browser, or export to PDF, DOCX, Anki or CSV on Plus.
The format also tests recall in a different way. Students must recognize each correct statement and reject the distractors, which makes it useful for topics with several related facts, such as anatomy, chemistry or nursing content.
DeckOwl helps you start from your own material. Upload your slides or notes, generate a set of questions with explanations, and then edit them to match your course before you use them.

Frequently asked questions
How do I study for select all that apply questions?
Go through each statement in a question and decide whether it is true on its own, not just whether it looks similar to the correct answer. Practice with questions that have several correct options so you get used to checking every choice.
How many answer options should a select all that apply question have?
Four or five options is common, and most of them should be plausible. Make sure at least one option is correct and at least two are correct in many questions so students cannot guess a single answer.
Can I export these questions?
Exports are part of the paid plans. Plus includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. You can start on the free plan with 3 generations per month and study in the browser without a credit card.
