Use Canvas quiz tracking to find the topics you keep missing
Canvas shows you a score. It rarely shows which concepts caused the lost points. Upload your lecture slides or notes to DeckOwl and get multiple-choice, true/false or open questions with explanations, so you can practice the exact topics behind each miss.
How to track Canvas quiz results and study the gaps
If your Canvas quiz tracking only shows totals, you can tell that you lost points but not which idea caused it. Pull the quiz questions you missed, note the lecture or chapter each one came from, and count how many misses cluster in the same section. Those clusters are the topics to rebuild first.
- Sort missed questions by lecture or chapter, not by quiz date
- Write one sentence explaining why each wrong answer was wrong
- Retest missed topics after one day, three days and a week
- Keep your own record of scores, because Canvas attempt limits can hide earlier results
Topic-level practice
Generate questions from the slides or notes your course uses, so practice covers the same material your Canvas quizzes draw from.
Explanations for every answer
Each question includes an explanation, so a wrong answer becomes a lesson you can act on rather than just a lower score.
Exports when you need them
Plus exports PDF and DOCX, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML. Free plan users study in the browser.
How it works
Upload your course material
Add PDFs, DOCX or PPTX files, plain-text notes, or photos of pages. Text recognition reads the images.
Generate a quiz on the weak topics
Choose multiple-choice, true/false or short answer, and build a quiz from the sections you scored lowest on in Canvas.
Retake and track what you miss
Review the explanations, then repeat missed questions with spaced repetition until they stick.
DeckOwl works from the files you upload, so it does not read your Canvas gradebook. What it does is turn the same slides or notes into fresh practice questions for each weak section, with explanations, so your review follows the gaps your scores revealed. Repeat the missed questions over several days instead of cramming them the night before the next quiz.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find out which Canvas quiz questions I missed?
Open the quiz from your course page or Grades page and check the submission details. Canvas only shows answers if your instructor has turned on results viewing for that quiz.
How often should I review topics I missed on a quiz?
Review them within a day or two, then again after about three days and a week. That spacing is the basis of spaced repetition, which DeckOwl uses for flashcards.
Is exporting my quizzes free?
No. Exports are paid features: PDF and DOCX come with Plus, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML come with Pro. The free plan lets you study in the browser only.
Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and does not require a credit card.
