Need a Gimkit join code? Turn your notes into a quiz instead
DeckOwl builds multiple-choice, true/false and short answer questions from PDFs, slides, DOCX files, notes or photos of pages. It does not host live games or generate Gimkit codes.
When you need a quiz, not a game code
If your class is stuck on Gimkit join codes that will not connect, DeckOwl cannot supply or repair that code. What it can do is turn the review material you already have into a quiz you control, so your practice does not depend on one game code.
- Generate questions from the exact pages your class is studying
- Check each explanation before you assign the quiz
- Study the same set alone if a live session fails to connect
- Start on the Free plan with no credit card required
From your own material
Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain-text notes or a photo of a page, and questions are drawn from that text.
Explanations on every answer
Multiple-choice, true/false and short answer questions each come with an explanation, so wrong answers still teach something.
Export when you need it
Plus exports PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV. Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning management systems.
How it works
Upload your material
Add a PDF, slides, a DOCX file, notes or a photo of a page.
Choose question types
Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer, or mix them.
Study or export
Study in the browser on the Free plan, or export on a paid plan.
Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain-text notes or a photo of a page, and DeckOwl reads the text and writes multiple-choice, true/false or short answer questions with an explanation for each one. The Free plan includes 5 generations a week and studying in the browser.
Exports are paid features: Plus adds PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for a learning management system. If your review runs on a separate platform, you can bring the questions over instead of rewriting them by hand.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do if a live review game will not connect?
Have students work through the same questions on their own first, so a failed connection does not stop practice. Short sessions in the browser work well as a backup.
How many practice questions should a review quiz have?
Ten to twenty questions on one topic usually covers the main ideas without overwhelming students. Spacing several short quizzes out tends to work better than one long session.
Can I export my quiz to Moodle?
Yes, Moodle XML export is available on the Pro plan at $14.99 per month. Plus, at $99.90 per year or $9.99 per month, includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 5 generations a week and studying in the browser, and no credit card is needed to start.
