How the Hindi grammar quiz works

Hindi grammar trips up many learners on gender agreement, postpositions and verb forms, and a Hindi grammar quiz helps you test those rules before an exam. DeckOwl turns your own lesson PDF, slides or photographed notes into multiple-choice, true/false or short-answer questions, each with an explanation of the rule behind the answer.

  • Multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer formats
  • Explanations for each answer so you learn the rule, not just the result
  • Photos of textbook pages read with text recognition
  • Plus exports to PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV; Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML
Example Hindi grammar quiz questions
Is पानी masculine or feminine in Hindi?Masculine. Verbs agreeing with पानी take masculine forms, as in पानी गिरता है.
लड़की रोज़ पत्र ___ है. Choose the correct verb form: लिखता or लिखती.लिखती है. The present tense verb agrees with the feminine subject लड़की.
True or false: Hindi adjectives agree in gender and number with the noun they modify.True. This is why you say अच्छा लड़का but अच्छी लड़की, with the adjective matching the noun.
मैं दिल्ली ___ रहता हूँ. Choose the postposition: में or पर.में. It marks location inside a city, so the sentence is दिल्ली में रहता हूँ.

How it works

Add your material

Upload a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text file or a photo of your notes.

Choose a quiz format

Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short-answer questions and generate the set.

Answer and review

Work through the quiz and read the explanation for each question, especially the ones you missed.

Because the questions come from your own material, you practice the chapters and examples your teacher actually uses instead of a generic set. When you get one wrong, the explanation shows whether the mistake was gender, number or postposition, so you know what to review next.

Frequently asked questions

How do I learn Hindi noun gender?

Many masculine nouns end in a consonant or a long vowel, and many feminine nouns end in ई or -ी, but there are exceptions. Practice gender with verb agreement in full sentences, since the verb shows which gender the noun takes.

What is the difference between में and पर in Hindi?

में usually means inside or in, as in कमरे में, while पर usually means on or upon, as in मेज़ पर. Quiz questions that use both in the same sentence are a good way to test the difference.

Can I export my Hindi grammar quiz?

Exports are paid features. PDF and DOCX exports, along with Anki and CSV, are included in Plus at $39/year or $7.99/month, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML exports are on Pro at $14.99/month.

Does it work with photos of Hindi textbook pages?

Yes, photos of pages are read with text recognition, so you can generate a quiz from a picture of your notes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and lets you study in the browser.
