Why a custom quiz works better for Japanese grammar

Checking a Japanese grammar quiz against your own textbook chapter or lecture slides keeps practice focused on the particles and verb forms your class actually covers, such as は versus が or the te-form.

  • Particles such as は, が, を and に in sentences you fill in
  • Verb forms including te-form, potential and polite past
  • True/false checks on common mistakes with い-adjectives and godan verbs
  • Quizzes you can retake after reviewing the explanations
Example Japanese grammar quiz questions
How do you say 'I want to eat sushi' in Japanese?寿司が食べたいです (Sushi ga tabetai desu). The たい form attaches to the verb stem 食べ to express desire, and the object takes が.
True or false: the te-form of 書く is 書いて.True. 書く is a godan verb ending in く, so its te-form changes く to いて, giving 書いて (kaite).
Which is the polite past form of 行く?行きました (ikimashita). It is built from the masu stem 行き plus ました, while the plain past 行った is a separate form.
What is the potential form of 食べる?食べられる (taberareru). Ichidan verbs drop the final る and add られる to show the ability to do something.
Which particle marks the topic of a sentence: は or が?は marks the topic, while が often marks the grammatical subject or introduces new information. For example, 私は学生です describes what I am.

Multiple choice, true/false and short answer

Mix question types so you practice recognizing a grammar pattern and also producing it yourself.

Explanations for every answer

Each question includes a short explanation of why the correct form works, such as verb group or particle choice.

Built from your material

Upload a PDF, slides, a text file or a photo of a textbook page, and the questions come from that content.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text file or a photo of a page.

Choose the question types

Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer, then generate the quiz.

Practice and review

Answer the questions, read the explanations, and retake the sections you missed.

Ready-made quizzes often test patterns you have not studied yet. A quiz built from your own pages matches your course order and vocabulary, so every wrong answer points to something you can review.

Short answer questions are especially useful for conjugation, because you have to produce the form rather than spot it. Retaking the same quiz after a day or two shows which patterns are still shaky.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions should a Japanese grammar quiz have?

Ten to fifteen questions on one topic works well for a single sitting, which is enough to test a pattern like ている or the particles に and で without overload. Start with fewer if you are new to the material.

What is the best way to study Japanese grammar patterns?

Practice each pattern inside full sentences rather than in isolation, and retest it after a day or two so it sticks. Short answer questions that make you build the form help more than recognition alone.

Can I use my own textbook pages to make the quiz?

Yes. Upload a PDF, slides, plain notes or a photo of a page, and the quiz is built from that material with an explanation for each answer.

Which export options are included?

The Plus plan includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV exports, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning management systems. The free plan gives 3 generations per month, study in the browser, and no exports.
