Create a quiz for your HKU Moodle course from your notes
Upload PDFs, slides or notes and get multiple-choice, true/false or open questions with explanations. Pro exports Moodle XML so you can import the quiz into your course.
Getting a quiz that matches your course
Practice questions written from your own lecture slides and readings are usually more useful than a generic bank. This page is for building a HKU Moodle quiz from the material you already have.
- Upload the slides, notes or readings your lecturer assigned
- Choose multiple choice, true/false or open questions per set
- Read each explanation, including for questions you got right
- Export Moodle XML on Pro if you need to import into your course
Questions from your own material
Upload PDFs, DOCX, PPTX, plain text or photos of pages, and get questions written from the content you already study.
Three question types with explanations
Choose multiple choice, true/false or open questions. Each answer comes with an explanation so you learn from every miss.
Export when you need to import
Plus exports PDF and DOCX. Pro adds Moodle XML and QTI 2.1 so you can bring a quiz into a Moodle question bank.
How it works
Upload your slides or notes
Add the files from your course, including PDFs, PPTX slides, DOCX documents or photos of handwritten pages.
Pick the question types
Select multiple choice, true/false or open questions, then generate a set covering the topics you need.
Study or export
Practice in the browser on the free plan, or export to Moodle XML on Pro to import into your course quiz.
DeckOwl does not supply ready-made quizzes for HKU courses, so every quiz starts from your own files. Check each question against your lecture notes before you rely on it, since the explanations are generated and can contain mistakes.
Once the questions are generated, work through them in the browser first, read the explanation after each answer, then export the set if your plan includes that format.

Frequently asked questions
How many practice questions should I aim for before an exam?
A short mixed set that covers every topic on the syllabus is usually more useful than one long quiz on a single chapter. Retry the questions you missed until the explanations make sense.
Are open questions or multiple choice better for revision?
Open questions make you recall an answer, while multiple choice trains you to recognize the right one. Mixing both and reading the explanations afterward covers the two skills well.
Can I import the quiz into my HKU Moodle course?
Pro includes Moodle XML export at $14.99/month, which you can then import into a Moodle question bank if your course allows it. DeckOwl is not affiliated with HKU or Moodle.
Is there a free option?
The free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, but no exports. Plus is $39/year or $7.99/month and adds unlimited generations and PDF or DOCX export, and students get 40% off with a school email.
