Why custom sets beat generic CARS drills

Ready-made sets are a fine starting point, but MCAT practice questions for CARS are most useful when they come from the exact passages you are preparing with. Questions tied to a specific text make you practice identifying the main claim, the evidence and the author's tone in the same kind of writing the exam uses.

  • Questions written from the passages you plan to study
  • Multiple choice, true/false and short answer formats
  • Explanations that point back to the supporting text
  • Exports to PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV on the Plus plan
Example MCAT CARS practice questions
What is the difference between a passage's main claim and its supporting evidence? The main claim is the conclusion the author wants the reader to accept, and the supporting evidence is what the author offers to justify it. Keeping them separate makes structure questions easier to answer.
True or false: an answer choice can be correct if it adds a fact that the passage never states.False. The correct answer must be supported by the passage itself, so claims that go beyond the text are usually wrong even when they sound plausible.
Why might an author include a paragraph that presents an opposing view? The author presents the opposing view so they can rebut it, which strengthens the main claim. Questions about function often ask you to identify this purpose.
What does an extrapolation question ask you to do?It asks what the author would most likely say about a case the passage does not discuss. Answer by extending the author's stated reasoning to the new case without adding claims the author would reject.
How is tone different from main idea in a CARS passage?Main idea is what the author argues, while tone is the author's attitude toward the subject, such as skeptical, admiring or neutral. Word choice and emphasis usually signal tone.

Built from your own passages

Upload PDFs, slides, notes or photos of pages, and the questions come from that text. You practice on the kinds of arguments your prep materials use.

Explanations for every answer

Each question includes an explanation that points to the part of the passage that supports the correct choice, so you can see why the wrong answers fail.

Study in the browser or export

Practice on the free plan in your browser. The Plus plan adds PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export, and the Pro plan adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.

How it works

Upload a passage or notes

Add a PDF, DOCX, slide deck, text file or photo of a reading passage from your prep book or class material.

Choose a question type

Pick multiple choice, true/false or short answer. Mix types to practice both answer selection and written reasoning.

Answer, then review the reasoning

Work through the questions, then read each explanation to check how the author's claim and evidence led to the correct answer.

Start by reading a passage without timing yourself, then answer the questions and check your reasoning against the explanations. Over time, shorten your timing and keep a short list of the question types you miss, such as inference, tone or the function of a paragraph.

Because the questions are generated from your own material, you can keep building a library of passages from different subjects, including the humanities and social sciences topics that CARS draws from.

Frequently asked questions

How many CARS passages should I practice before test day?

No fixed number works for everyone. Keep practicing until you can summarize each author's main claim in one sentence and explain why each wrong answer fails.

How do I check whether I read a CARS passage correctly?

Write a one-sentence summary of the main claim before looking at the questions, then compare each answer choice to that summary. Mismatches often point to a misread tone or a claim the author mentioned only in passing.

Can I export these questions to another app?

Yes. The Plus plan includes PDF, DOCX, Anki and CSV export, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are part of the Pro plan.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, with no exports, and you do not need a credit card to start.
