Why generate your own MCAT math questions

Free printable MCAT math practice questions are easy to find, but they rarely match the chapter or course material you are working through this week. The MCAT has no standalone math section. Quantitative reasoning shows up inside the chemistry, physics and biology passages, so the most useful practice uses the same kind of problems in the same context.

  • Algebra, ratios and percent change inside science passages
  • Unit conversions, including temperature and concentration
  • Logarithms and exponents, such as pH and decay
  • Reading data from tables and graphs in short sets
Example MCAT math practice questions
A stock solution at 0.5 M is diluted with water until it reaches 0.1 M. What is the ratio of the final volume to the initial volume?5. Because M1V1 equals M2V2, the volume ratio V2/V1 equals M1/M2, which is 0.5/0.1 = 5.
A sample has a half-life of 2 hours. What fraction of the original sample remains after 6 hours?1/8, or 0.125. Three half-lives pass, and each one halves the remaining amount.
Convert 25 °C to kelvin.298 K. Absolute temperature in kelvin is the Celsius value plus about 273.
A solution has a pH of 3. What is the hydrogen ion concentration?1 × 10^-3 M. Because pH equals negative log of [H+], [H+] equals 10 raised to the negative pH.
A price drops from 80 to 60. What is the percent decrease?25%. The change is 20, and 20 divided by the original 80 gives 0.25, so the decrease is 25 percent.

Questions from your own material

Upload the review book chapter, lecture slides or class notes you are actually studying, and get questions that match them.

Explanations for every answer

Each question comes with an explanation, so a correct guess still teaches you the step you missed.

Three question types

Multiple-choice, true/false and short-answer questions let you practice recognition, judgment and recall.

How it works

Upload your notes

Add a PDF, DOCX, PPTX, plain text file or a photo of a page. Photos are read with text recognition.

Choose the question type

Pick multiple-choice, true/false or short answer, then generate a set from the section you want to drill.

Practice and review

Answer the questions, read the explanations, and return to the topics where you missed steps.

DeckOwl builds a set from your own material. If your notes cover dilutions, half-lives, unit conversions or percent change, the questions will be about those topics, with explanations you can check against your notes. You can review a set in the browser on the free plan.

Frequently asked questions

What math should I review for MCAT science passages?

Most MCAT quantitative reasoning is algebra, ratios and percentages, exponents and logarithms, unit conversions, and reading graphs. Expect these inside chemistry and physics passages rather than as standalone problems.

How should I schedule MCAT math practice?

Short, frequent sets work better than long weekend sessions. Review every explanation, including the ones for answers you got right by guessing.

Can I export MCAT practice questions?

Exports are paid features. PDF and DOCX export are on the Plus plan at $39/year or $7.99/month, and QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML export are on the Pro plan at $14.99/month.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. The free plan includes 3 generations per month and studying in the browser, with no exports. No credit card is needed to start, and students get 40% off with a school email.
