Get into a live Quizizz game, then quiz yourself from your notes

Joining a live session takes a code and a name. Preparing for it takes practice, so DeckOwl turns your own material into quiz questions you can study in the browser.

Joining a live session and studying before it starts

The Quizizz live join page asks for two things: a game code from the host and a name to show on the scoreboard. Most problems happen before the game starts, such as a mistyped code or a blocked connection on a school network, so check both early.

  • Join early so you have time to fix a wrong code or a weak connection.
  • Ask the host whether late joins are allowed before the game begins.
  • Review key terms from your own notes, not only the slides you remember.
  • Check explanations for every wrong answer so the same mistake does not repeat.
Example practice questions before a live quiz session
What do you usually need to join a live quiz session?A game code from the host and a name or nickname to show on the scoreboard, entered on the join page.
Why might a live join fail on a school network?Blocked sites or an unstable connection can stop the page from loading, so switch to a different network or ask the teacher to check filters.
Can you join a live quiz after the game has started? It depends on the host's settings, so ask before the countdown ends because some sessions lock once play begins.
What should you do if your game code is rejected?Check the code for typos and confirm it is for the current session, since codes from earlier games stop working.
Why review questions before a timed live game?Seeing the material beforehand helps you recall answers faster under time pressure, which matters more than the join step itself.

Practice questions from your notes

Upload a PDF, slides or notes and get multiple-choice, true/false or open questions with explanations.

Study in the browser

The free plan includes 3 generations per month, and you can study without exporting anything.

Export for your course platform

Plus exports PDF and DOCX, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML for learning management systems.

How it works

Get the game code

Ask your host for the code shown on their screen.

Enter it on the join page

Type the code, then choose a name the host can see.

Prepare with your own quiz

Build a practice quiz from your notes so the questions feel familiar before the timer starts.

Live games move fast, so reviewing the material beforehand matters more than the join step itself. DeckOwl reads your PDFs, slides, DOCX files, text notes or photos of pages and writes multiple-choice, true/false or short-answer questions with explanations you can work through alone.

Whether a late join is allowed depends on the host's settings, so ask before the countdown ends. If you need the same questions for a course platform later, Pro exports QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.

Frequently asked questions

How should I prepare for a timed live quiz?

Review your own notes in short sessions over several days rather than cramming the night before. Answer questions from memory first, then check the explanations for anything you missed.

What is the best way to remember terms for a live game?

Practice recalling each term without looking at the answer, and repeat the ones you miss until they come back easily. Spaced repetition on the Plus plan schedules those reviews for you.

Does DeckOwl host live games or provide a join code?

No. DeckOwl creates quiz and flashcard material from your files for studying in the browser and does not run live sessions. Your host or teacher provides any game code.

Can I export my quiz on the free plan?

No. The free plan lets you study in the browser without exports. Plus includes PDF and DOCX exports, and Pro adds QTI 2.1 and Moodle XML.
